Side Chain Modulation in MONTAGE: A Video Demonstration
Side Chain Modulation uses the audio output of one part to change another part. This video by Dom Sigalas shows how to set up a Side Chain effect in MONTAGE.
Side Chain Modulation is common in EDM (electronic dance music) where the kick drum feeds a compressor “key” or “Side Chain.” The compressor is then patched to a pad or other sustaining sound. The compression effect works when the kick drum plays. When the kick drum plays, the compressor reduces the pad volume. This produces the offbeat “pumping” sound.
