Motify xf88 for some unkown reason will not transmit on MIDI OUT to external bass sound module which it has successfully for 5 years will playing with local group. Can comunicate with other controller keyboard to same sound module on MIDI CHANNEL 1. Checked all saved user sounds; appears nothing has changed. Looking for some possible help in finding the cause. Many thanks. Jan

Here is your checklist:
Press [UTILITY]
Using the up/down cursor buttons
Select “MIDI”
Find MIDI IN/OUT
Here you can select MIDI or USB
Select “MIDI IN/OUT” = MIDI

Determines which physical output/input terminal(s) will be used for transmitting/receiving MIDI data. Settings: MIDI, USB

Connect a 5-pin MIDI cable between the MX88 MIDI OUT to the 5-pin MIDI IN on the module.

I did what was suggested. MIDI IN/OUT=MIDI was already selected. I have about 10 separate user sounds on the MOTIF that will play in the right hand but nothing happens in the lower keyboard which has for several years.

Not sure why but I thought you had an MX88, my bad. Your first sentence confused me.

I have about 10 separate user sounds on the MOTIF that will play in the right hand but nothing happens in the lower keyboard which has for several years.

What “right hand“ (?) what “lower keyboard“ ?

What mode are you in? Are you using the MASTER Mode?
Should you be using the Master Mode?

Yes I am using MASTER VOICE mode. I have a split or ZONE 1 for the lower keyboard that is programmed to go MIDI OUT sound module which is what I refer to as my left hand
The upper keyboard is sounds saved with that configuration so I have both the piano and bass independently playing at the same time. I have volume pedals for both the YAMAHA sounds and for controlling the sound module from the lower keyboard split. All of the YAMAHA sounds under the SUB CATEGORY section . I tried different midi cables that work with other controller keyboards so it is not the cable(s)l

Let’s talk MIDI channels... Zone 1 is set to transmit to EXT only, right? What Channel?
What are the other Zones set to? INT? what channel?

What Mode is this Master Program associated with?

ZONE 1 is set to transmit externally to MIDI channel 1
all other ZONES are internal set to channel 1
When the MOTIF first comes on it is set to "VOICE - MASTER " mode and is on the first patch in the SUB-CATEGORY

IS IT possible to view this keyboard and settings via WI-FI? Just a thought
