Very Cool !

Is MONTAGE CONNECT already available ? or will be available soon ?

Will it work in other VST3 supporting DAWs (i.e. Studio One Pro v. 3) ?

Thanks,
Tarek

When starting a new Project, MONTAGE Connect can recall your customized Default Performance. This means if you like a particular grouping of instrument sounds setup in a MONTAGE Performance when recording to a DAW, the Connect plug-in can recall and send that to your instrument. You can create any arrangement of instruments and select "Save as Default...".

But it seems to me that it already does this. When I select a Performance on the Montage, enable Montage Connect in Cubase, and save the Cubase project, the Performance that was on the Montage at that time apparently gets saved as part of the Cubase project file. Then, when I open the project in Cubase, the Performance that was saved with the project automatically gets loaded to the Montage.

What is changed with regard to this behavior by setting a Performance as "default?"

I'm finding Montage Connect very useful.

Yes, if Montage Connect was online when you saved the Project, it will automatically recall that Performance when you reopen the Project, that's built in.

The quote you posted starts, "When starting a new Project... ", not when you reopen a stored Project. Instead of starting with the factory INIT "Multi/GM", you can customize the instrumentation for the starting point Performance.

This is a poor way to link to things since the link is subject to change - but works for now:

http://usa.yamaha.com/products/music-production/synthesizers/montage/#tab=PD5128463

English Software MONTAGE Connect V1.0.0 for Mac OS X 50.53 MB 6/9/2016
English Software MONTAGE Connect V1.0.0 for Windows 33.31 MB 6/9/2016

In general, if you have software questions - go to the Montage page on yamaha.com where the answer is usually covered there. Includes firmware, manuals, PC software, drivers, etc.

My suggestion was to use the "Synths" section here as a bridge to this information as Yamaha has provided for the Motif, Reface, etc. But apparently the "Synths" section is being mothballed which explains why Montage is not there.

The document says that adding Montage Connect to a Cubase project as an Instrument Track is the "preferred method" vs adding it as a Rack Instrument. What's preferable about doing it that way, since it works either way?

It's purely cosmetic. Launching as a "Rack Instrument" sets up for Automation and Audio Return. The Automation Lane and the Audio Lane functions of the Montage Connect application are not operational, so rather than having to look at them or remove them; launching it via the "TRACK INSTRUMENT" is simply neater and more streamline.

In either case, in a basic setup, you will be using MIDI Tracks to record MIDI data from the Montage.
And you will setup Audio Tracks to record Audio.

This didn't get any responses as a separate message on the Forum, so I figured I'd try here:

Is Montage CONNECT supposed to save system settings (e.g. Direct Monitor, Local Control) along with the Montage Performance into a Cubase project file?

It doesn't seem to be doing this consistently for me, but it could be user error on my part. I figured it would be easier to ask than to do an extensive series of experiments.

If it doesn't save system settings, please take this as a suggestion to add that feature, which I think would be very useful.

Thanks…

Link to next article in series is broken:

https://yamahasynth.com/component/k2/montage-connect-ii

An intern needs to be tasked with cleaning up all these broken links.

This is the correct link, at least for today:

https://www.yamahasynth.com/resources/montage-connect-ii

This link does not work for me. I get a 401 error.
Can someone provide the truly "correct" link?

There is no correct link - because any link I give will die as long as Yamaha keeps up its link management practices. Which means to change them often and not redirect previous links to the new one(s).

So I'll say it again - this is the the correct link, at least for today (Jul 2021).

I find these by using google search. "site:yamahasynth.com

Just checking (although from what I saw on the Yamaha site I'm pretty sure I know the answer), Is Montage Connect exclusively for Cubase?
