Great news: the problem that the touch screen keys were giving repeated characters when touched lightly is gone at least from my Montage. I believe Bad Mister wrote in some recent thread that he forwarded the problem to engineering. Now it's solved. That was quick. Thanks for that!

EDIT: The problem is still there...

I'm still seeing the problem on my Montage. πŸ™

I wonder if there's some setting that's different on our setups.

Yes, scratch that. It appeared again after a while. Maybe it's just happening when the Montage is warm :-(...

I haven't seen this glitch yet...however, I did notice a slight lag when switching in and out of screens to change various parameters until I shut off the visual effects. Have you tried that?

I still wish, by default, Montage would disable animations and blur from the factory and when you initialize your Montage. Both of these features cause more issues than whatever improved user experience was predicted by the "bling" factor.

The animations give the interface a sluggish feel and the blur makes it difficult to read the screen. Depending on what's "behind" your current screen - some are worse than others. Usually this affects the header of related parameters which makes it difficult to effectively use the information presented.

Although I can see where you're going with sluggish having something to do with this - the problem pointed out is a lack of hysteresis in the hardware causing an over-active response (not a sluggish one).

Previously the "cure" to the double-press issue was to remove the plastic cover over the touchscreen. However, it seems even users without the plastic are still having problems even with calibration.

Rather than possibly causing a less responsive delay for some (that do not see this issue) - it may be worth adding a hysteresis adjustment from 0-127 (*4) mS. So you get a range of 0 to roughly 1/2sec hysteresis on consecutive touchscreen presses in 4mS increments. Or settle on some "None, Low, Med, High" choice where None=0, Low=100mS, Med=250mS, High=500mS.

Sounds good to me.

I never had this problem... and I still have the plastic cover on the touchscreen!

You should remove that plastic cover.

Hint: a firm confident touch works better than a tentative touch that registers first from proximity (heat of your finger), then again on your touch. I have found that a thinking of it as a *tap* screen (rather than a touch screen) seems to help many. I watch many others interacting with the screen, and find some have the problem, and the next person will not. It is often a matter of approach.

Tap with the confidence you know it will work. And by β€œfirm confident” I don’t mean with force, I mean without hovering, without touching and waiting for the β€œanimation” or the β€œblip”... I find those help some folks and others it does not.

The animation defaults to On because it helps those not used to a touch screen to see where their tap is being registered. Likely first encounter with the MONTAGE is in a retail store, DEFAULTS are always going to lean toward β€œfirst encounter” situations. You can customize it to your liking once you own it.

Those that miss the target can see by how far. You should calibrate your screen from time to time if the touch point is obviously off target.

I don't recall if mine did that, however, now I use the Dell remote screen exclusively. When you get old, hard of seeing and don't want to bend over it's a must.

Hi all
I have been trying to see this happen the last 2 days.(Thought I would try. Just to see.)
It just does not happen. No matter how lightly. I touch the screen. Double touch....
3 of my Friends Have also been trying it. No problem with their units either.
Now. All of our Montages. Are Less than 1 year old.
2 of them still have the plastic screen cover on.(that certainly does not matter.)
So ....from our 4 units. No such problem. Can be duplicated.(None of us has. Ever calibrated the screen)
That would lead 1 to think a Faulty part???? Ribbon cable lose?
It just sounds more like a hardware issue to me.
OR If You calibrated the screen. That may Bring on the problem.
I am not going to Calibrate the screen to try this. It is just fine as is.

I calibrated mine a few times to adjust it to my "light touch" (I just gently touch the screen without pressing it) and I never had problems.
