Hello,

I've bought the excellent Easysound Analog Xperience. Time needed for loading : about 5 minutes !!
Generally speaking, I find the loading time is quite heavy, even when its a non samples bank.

What do you think ?

It is a samples bank is the first obvious answer.

Second.... 5 minutes of your spare time is no big deal. Make a coffee while you're waiting.

Finally, I think it is more than just straight data transfer time. There's probably a host of decompression, error checking and compiling has to happen also.

You load it once into the Montage/MODX and afterwards the loading time will not appear anymore.

I believe what Fred is expressing is that Easy Analog Xperience is known to have samples and takes a long time to load. As an aside, I believe he expresses that even files that are known to contain no samples (not Analog Xperience, but something else) takes a long time as well. Maybe not as long as with-sample sets, but still past his personal waiting threshold.

Theoretically, loading 500MB should take about a minute when I look at some average time-to-load from a USB 2.0 flash stick. If conversion is interleaved (done on the fly rather than after the read) - this could add lots of latency. There may not be internal buffering in order to "cache up" the data then do the conversion as a second step.

Agreed. This is super annoying when hitting limits and doing this frequently.

And it does seem antiquated to be waiting this long.

I get it, there's much decompressing and setup going on, but it's still VERY slow.

And there's no way to sequence them, so it often takes half and hour to setup, one after another... waiting... install next ... wait... etc.

I hear you. It influences not doing it very often - although if it were more rapid then this may help make the experience better and thus take away one barrier to "getting into" using content packs.

Hopefully doing something better than incrementally-better-than-last-gen becomes a future goal. I'm not going to pretend to have any insight on what could or could not be optimized.

I do realize with (here comes hyperbole) keypunch cards to load into Yamaha keyboards, it was once slower as in hours. And I recognize, over time, the loading time for content has steadily decreased.

That's the usual pushback. That said, the wish is still valid.
