Are there shortcuts to access to specific performances quickly with the Montage when playing live? For example, If I want to access the 'flute' performance, is there a way of entering an numeric shortcut for that performance, rather than:

1. Starting a category search.
2. Typing 'flute' into the name search bar.
3. Pressing the buttons to bring up each category.
4. Eventually finding 'flute' in Woodwinds.
5. And then tapping 'flutes' to activate the performance.

It would be great to just enter '034,' somewhere, for example, and have that number bring up the flute performance (or another user-defined performance, for example) in just a few seconds.

Thanks.

You would use the Live Sets for this. With that you can organise your performances and access them with the touch of one button or a press on the screen. Much quicker than remembering a number and calling it up on a keypad.

Was wondering the same thing for a different scenario.

The Data List document is nice to have for uber-quick Category searches, but once you find a Performance you'd like to try, how can you use the number in the Data List to quickly go to that Performance?

Since the Data List number is not shown in the Performance name, you're also kind of lost as to where you are currently within the 1920 performances, compounding the problem. Don't know which way to go...

Phil - Thanks for your response. Yes, I understand the Live Performances. But you still may need to page through several screens of 16x16 matrices. That's why I am curious about other possible performance retrieval options.

Another nit about the Live Set is that the software files the performance with the name of the performance. I'd like to file it by the name of the song title.

The Data List PDF does assign a number for each performance. When I play live I use OnSong. It would be very convenient for me to record the performance number at the start of each song, and then enter the performance number in (somewhere) to >directly< access the performance.

Cheers,

Another nit about the Live Set is that the software files the performance with the name of the performance. I'd like to file it by the name of the song title.

When creating a Live Set you can place the title of the song you use the Performance in the Live Set slot.

Call up the Performance
Hold [SHIFT] + [LIVE SET] to register the Performane in the first empty Live Set location.
Touch the location to register the Performance to the slot

Once on the Live Set screen touch EDIT (upper right in the screen)
You can name the Slot... Touch "Slot Name" box. This is where you can place the title of the song or othe description (20 characters). You can additionally store the volume required for this song. So even if the "CFX CONCERT" if used three or four times in your Live Set, you can name it differently for each instance. You can color code it as well. See page 184 of your Reference Manual for details. You can advance between slot with a Foot Switch..

I get a merit badge then. That is how I solved it before reading your answer.

Related question then: Is it possible to sort the Live Set alphabetically by 'Slot Name'? I have tried to alpha-sort by dragging each performance around the 16x16 matrix. However, that didn't work.

After working with the Montage system, the optimal solution, for me, is to create a new single-part or multi-part performance, and then save the new performance using the name of the song.

This alleviates the issue of using the same preset with different slot names, which can be confusing when you're scanning the Live Set for the exact performance needed.

Cheers.
