Hi

MODX v2.5

Is there a way to set the date / time on the MODX.
I just made an audio recording and the date was 1/2/2000.
It would be helpful to have recordings dated correctly for easier searching.

Hi

Thanks for responding.

I made an audio recording on the MODX using the MODX audio recording feature.
When I viewed the resulting .wav file details in Windows, the "Date Created" was 1/2/2000.

There is no possibility to set the clock on the MODX and it will revert to the same date/time at each power cycle.

I usually name my user area backup with the current date to mitigate this and I guess that it's possible for recording as well.

Not optimal maybe but at least we don't have to worry about any battery leaking inside the unit in the future.

Yes, there's no RTC in MODX/Montage so things like file dates are not going to be valid. The suggestion to key in the date as text in your file names or Performance names (if you want to keep track of timestamps) is sound advice.

Even with emerging trends in alternatives, a coin battery is still the best power source for an RTC that is meant to keep running after main power is removed. Since these last around 10 years (by spec) - having the battery replaceable by design with an easily accessible and user serviceable cover would be best. Having the battery leak after 20 years or so is still a possibility but making them user serviceable would greatly mitigate this on several fronts.

The design decision not to have the RTC run while power is disconnected indicates what Yamaha "thinks" about the necessity of matching "real world" timestamps. Unless there's a huge stink made about it from enough users - I think this trend will continue. It ultimately saves cost, complexity, and increases MTBF. All which are good things with the (insert judgement call here) downside that the timeclock doesn't run when power is disconnected.
