I purchased and installed a 1Gig Flash Memory Expansion Board for my MOXF8, I read over the online manual and viewed Bad Mister 2017 Youtube video on Formatting the Memory, installing the files to audition the sounds before deciding what I wanted to place on the Flash Memory Expansion. I decided that i wanted the MOXF Inspiration In A Flash and Ultimate Piano Collection but seemingly I can only load the MOXF Inspiration In A Flash which covers the 3 Banks of 128 Voices along with the Drums. Does this mean that i can't load the Ultimate Piano Collection as a whole but the I have to delete sounds from the MOXF Inspiration In A Flash in order to load the Pianos individually even though I have 400MB of free space remaining on my Flash Memory Expansion Board?

The MOXF has room for 3 Banks of 128 Voices + (32 User Drum Kits).
That’s 384 Normal Voices (and 32 Drum Kit Voices).

You wish to load the 384 Normal Voices from the “Inspiration in a Flash” Library, plus the 32 Ultimate Piano Collection Voices.

The MOXF can only hold 384 Normal Voices at once.

The Factory Wave ROM contains 3,977 Waveforms (741MB) in permanent memory. You can make an unlimited number of new Voices that utilize the Factory Waveforms. You can make and load them in sets of 384.
Because they use Waveform burned into the Factory ROM, a set of 384 Voices takes only a few seconds to load.

The Flash Board is like an extension of the Factory Wave ROM, except there are 2,048 Waveform slots (1GB) in semi permanent memory. You can make an unlimited number of new Voices that utilize the Flash Board Waveforms. You can make and load them in sets of 384.
Because once you have installed the Waveforms and Samples to the Flash Board memory, a set of 384 Voices takes only a few seconds to load.

Factory Waveforms are listed on the Preset Waveform list 0001-3977
When you install data to the Flash Board it will start placing the Waveforms on the Flash Waveform list starting at User 0001 and up. Once installed on your Flash Board you would make a File that saves your data.

Next say you load the Ultimate Piano Collection. It will load the Voices into the MOXF and install the Waveforms starting at the lowest numbered empty slot. In other words, immediately after the “Inspiration in a Flash” data. Adding to your personal Waveform List.

Every time you SAVE a file, from this point on, it will include your Waveform List. This means those Waveforms and Samples are accessible in memory. Each file you make from now on will include your Waveform List. This is a catalog that tells each AWM2 Element exactly *where* to find it’s Waveform.

It is very important to make your own Files to back up your data.

From a previous post….
Once you have installed Waveforms to your FLASH BOARD... You have created your own Waveform List. Those Waveforms will remain on your Flash Board from now until you either reFormat that Board or you manually DELETE them.

Every time you make a File your Waveform List will automatically be backed up to that File. Please recognize that YOUR Waveform List can and eventually will be unique to *YOUR* MOXF. It will be representative of the Waveforms that you’ve Selected to "keep". And it is mandatory that you always Load data from your own files - if you want to maintain the integrity of your list.
Because Waveforms can never be overwritten - new Waveforms are simply added to the END of the List

Whenever you load a File you must ask yourself: By Loading this new File, do I want to add new Waveforms to my Waveform List, or are the Waveforms already installed?

If you do not need to add new Waveforms, make sure the box "with waveform" is NOT marked.
As you can tell it takes time to install Waveform data, a good deal of time; to avoid having to wait - and to avoid duplicating Waveforms... Once your Waveforms are in place, you can simply load your files without adding new waveforms. It will be way, way, way quicker.

So say you FACTORY reSET your instrument... Which will return the User banks to the ones that came from the factory...
Then say, later on, you want to reload the “Inspiration in a Flash” VOICES. You will always want to reLoad the data from your own backup File. Because YOUR backup file represents exactly WHERE your Waveforms were installed on YOUR Waveform List.

When you LOAD you would select to clear the box "with waveforms" because the waveforms for the "Inspiration in a Flash" are already installed on your Flash Board. So instead of 20 minutes, the Voices will load in 20 seconds. Same when you wish to load the Ultimate Piano data.

This is no trivial matter. The inspiration in a Flash has over 400MB of Waveform and Sampled audio data.
The Voice data that loads in seconds is quite small in comparison.

All 384 Voices load in seconds — they are about 2KB each. That’s 2,000 bytes
Contrast that with the audio data that is 400,000,000 bytes

By installing (burning) this large data onto Flash, we can simply Load “without Waveform” and save a humongous amount of time.

You have options to load All, All Voice, Voice (1), 1 Bank Voice (128)… if you’ve already installed the Waveforms you don’t need to wait for them… the Waveform list knows where to find the data.

Press [FILE]
Press [F6] FLASH
Press [SF2] DELETE
this will show you a list of the Waveforms you have installed.
Use the DOWN CURSOR or Data Dial to view the list's contents, 0001 ~ 2048

Thanks for responding and I respect and appreciate your technical response to help me understand and possibly resolve this Flash Expansion Board minor issue.

I thought deeply on this issue but I'm not that type of under the hood Musician, I prefer to keep things clean and simple so I thought about the video that you made and you stated that this Flash Expansion Board was to put what you wanted and nothing that I didn't need or wanted, Great Advice.

This was my resolve after reading your response, reading more on the Flash Expansion Board and looking at your video from 2017 once more, I completely loaded the entire Inspiration in a Flash then I began to load all of the Ultimate Piano Collection by using Voice from the File mode to add to the desired USER Banks while replacing Voices that I wasn't going to use and didn't need in Inspiration in a Flash. I put all of the Ultimate Piano Collection on USER Bank 2 replacing Voices 009 thru 042, Then I placed Chick Corea's entire Bank on USER BANK 3 again replacing Voices that I wasn't going to use and didn't need in Inspiration in a Flash. When I reentered the File Mode to see how much Space was remaining on the Flash Expansion Board I was pleased to see 5MB of the 1GB, and of course I saved these NEW USER BANKS to my USB Stick.

Your video put emphasis on loading these Banks and checking them out, then focused on only what you wanted on the Flash this really helped me to think. All the Voices are working fine after working on this for nearly a week.

Thanks
