Will this site ever work properly again with Safari? I have to use Chrome to log in, logging in through Safari hangs. Logging through Firefox appears to work until I tried to add a new post to the forums. A second login screen popped up and rejected my password!!! I was getting to ready to drop $3000 on a new Yamaha product after owning a lot of Yamaha gear in the past but the difficulty of reaching the forums for assistance is making me reconsider my purchase. Ever since Yamaha moved from Motifator to Yamahasynth.com, the forum access has been terrible, especially related to logging in. I am even having trouble posting this, typing into the tag field is hung, the submit button does not work. What good is having an account here? I am really losing faith in Yamaha and you are close to losing a steady and loyal customer.

I use Safari - used it back at Motifator, use it almost exclusively for YamahaSynth.

The login is a separate issue that can be resolved.... The Account is not so much just here but with Yamaha. Solving a login problem is an issue the web folks will undoubtedly need to help you with.

But it is not a universal problem for everyone using Safari, that much I can tell you... hang in there, if you do not hear from someone soon, bump this thread! Sorry for the problems with the login.

Thanks, Phil (as always)...I came here after the move from Motifator and had issues immediately. I've been away for some time and some appear to have been fixed, but this login thing is just ridiculous. That's the one thing that has to work right to make the site useful.

Actually you can read, watch, and learn all about the synths here without logging in, but participation is truly what it is all about. To log in you do so through your Yamaha “MyAccount” or with Facebook or Google... which are you doing? Just so when the web folks see this they can have some info to go on...

This site has had several inflection points where it has been revamped and going through transitions. Within the past year there have been a lot of those. If you happened to catch the site during one of these times - and that was your first impression - then you, no doubt, got a terrible first impression. Early on from when I joined (2016ish) - there were lots of strange things happening with the login. Before that time -- there very well may have been more.

The site is miles ahead today from where it once was. There's still chance for improvement. I can say I have little experience with Safari on this site.

Also -- the web team is very receptive to feedback and monitors the site feedback area. Certainly, you need to be able to land a post (it has to work) in order to get your feedback across. Now that you can - any issues you have can be fielded.

From the support side - to tag on to BM's login style question:

OS Version and Safari Version would be things I'd be interested in. Maybe device type although OS version should be good enough since iOS vs. Mac OS would become apparent and likely not a big difference between hardware devices.

... for "S&G", I tried logging into yamahasynth.com's forums using Safari on an iOS device running iOS 12.0.1. The Safari version is 12.0 (latest for iOS). What I saw was the login did not work. Steps to reproduce:

1) Login to www.yamahasynth.com using Safari on above detailed iOS device - this brings me to the home page and I have never signed in before (no cached credentials)
2) Touched the "Sign In" button
3) Filled in my credentials using the yamahasynth credentials (not facebook, not google). - Site accepted my username and password. I let the redirect (back to the homepage) happen by waiting instead of pressing "continue".
4) Back at the homescreen I saw the "Sign In" button has properly changed to the "My Account" and "Sign Out" buttons. Going by memory on "Sign Out" - so that's a paraphrase.
5) Navigated to the Forum by pressing the hamburger menu (3 horizontal lines like "=" is 2 horizontal lines), touched "Forum", then touched the Non-Synth area to see posts here
Unexpected behavior w/Safari:
6) Noticed that I could not add to a post - even though the top had a "My Account" button (recognizing I have logged in, because I could touch it and see my name) the bottom of the screen showed the different way of logging in with a text box for username and a text box for password instructing me to login in order to reply.
7) I could, however, fill in THIS method of logging in and then the system would allow for me to add a reply.

I would agree that iOS Safari ("Mobile 12.0" ) - right now, today 11/16/2018 - presents a different experience than I see using Chrome on Windows. And I can say that this mis-alignment between the "Sign In" button and other methods of entering user credentials was once a problem even with Chrome and that once I would see differences between Chrome/Firefox/Opera under Windows which had me, in the past, trying all 3 browsers every time I tried to login. Now this is fixed for the PC - but Safari seems to have some of the same old behavior I saw before.

For me, the workaround is to login using credentials at the bottom of a message post - as this method seems to work. And NOT to use the "Sign In" button at the top of the screen (banner area). It would probably serve to get this fixed for Safari and perhaps regression test other browsers and OS environments.

Hi All,
I've just tested the login on Safari iOS running the most recent update of 12.1 and there were no problems with the login. I was able to get in easily. I've also tested on Safari 12.0.1 for desktop and that is logging in as well with no problems at this time.

Keep us updated if you see any issues and thank you for your participation in the forum.

Best,

Amy - Community Coordinator

Using a Macbook Pro, MacOS 11.1 (BigSur), Safari 14.0.2, User Agent Setting = Default (Automatically Selected):

1) Navigate to https://yamahasynth.com
2) Upper-right, click on "Sign In" button with circled key icon on left side of icon
3) I notice using this configuration, I do not get the expected popup window that does not cover the entire previous screen. Instead, the entire screen changes to an unfamiliar login page. At the URL box at the top, it reads "yamaha.com" (not yamahasynth).

4) I type in my correct credentials and although there is no error, my username and password are cleared and the login page continues to display without any sign on. This is an infinite loop with no actual login.

Then, I change the user agent in Safari from default to "Google Chrome - MacOS"

1) Navigate to https://yamahasynth.com
2) Upper-right, click on "Sign In" button with circled key icon on left side of icon
3) With different user agent, I get the familiar pop-up window

4) I type in my correct credentials and although there is no error, my username and password are cleared and the login page continues to display without any sign on. This is an infinite loop with no actual login.

So even though this "looks" more familiar, the login still doesn't work.

In order to resolve, I had to use Google Chrome Version 87.0.4280.141 (Official Build) (x86_64). That is what I am using now and it was able to login using default settings. I still have slightly more trouble with Mac Google Chrome maintaining my login during a session than Windows - but at least it works where Safari did not.

I haven't retested iOS lately.

Hello all,

I confirm the same issue like Jason on iOS / iPad. I found no way to log into the forum (not on Safari, not on Chrome, not on Firefox). It looks like I'm able to log into my Yamaha account - If I visit my profile page on Yamaha I see and I can edit my data.
But the forum doesn't recordnice the login and stays read only.

best regards
Werner

I have the same issues on my iPad, I have tried Safari and Edge and I can't log in with either of them. I can log in fine on my PC using the same username and password that wouldn't work on the iPad.

I don't get an error on the iPad, it just displays the login page again with blank fields.
