Hello I have spent between 2 and 3 hours now trying to change the midi channel on my reface cp to transmit and receive on channel 8. I believe I have effectively created a syx file that I have sent to my reface cp to do so but it is working intermittently as it seems as the the omni mode is still on perhaps. I created a button in logic x to send cc124 to my reface cp and it seems as though I’m not successful in effectively turning omni mode off as well as keeping it on channel 8. I have a modx, one of the tutorials was using at motif to send the XX message to the reface, I’m wondering if there’s a way to help walk me through how to do this using a modx or logic x. Thanks for any help.

First, sorry you are having issues with your refaceCP.
We need to ask if you have updated the firmware of your refaceCP, current version is 1.30

We ask because added with version 1.30 is the ability to turn OMNI Mode Off and to set a MIDI Channel.
You can find information on the refaceCP download: reface Download Page

If you have 1.30 firmware setting the MIDI Channel can be set by powering up the refaceCP while holding down a three note chord... then while holding the lowest C#, touch the Key corresponding to the channel you wish to set. Your reface will remain there until you change it.
The download not only tells you how to check your instrument’s current firmware version, but comes with a detailed Supplementary Manual outlining all the new features.

Let us know... it is still possible to do the OMNI OFF and Transmit Channel setting via MIDI. But you should update your refaceCP to 1.30

Hello,
I have the same problem with setting up the midi channels.
I have 1.30 firmware update but I don’t really understand the instructions.
When you say hold down a 3-note chord - is this any chord you want?
And when you say I while holding down the lowest C#, touch the key corresponding to the channel you wish to set - can you please just tell me which key represents each channel?
This would be most helpful.
Thank you

I have 1.30 firmware update but I don’t really understand the instructions.

It’s a specific chord — outlined in the reface Version 1.30 Supplementary Manual — see page 19-20 for details. The Supplementary Manual tells you about all New Features of the update... it was included in the download.

While holding down the A3, C#4, and E4 keys, set the (Standby/On) switch to On
This activates Advanced Settings Mode.

Once in the Advanced Setting Mode (all program buttons will light).
Hold the lowest C# and touch the Key that corresponds to the MIDI channel you wish to set. It will remain set to this channel until you change it.

Look at the Supplementary Manual which includes pictures that makes it really clear... here’s a link:

Hope that helps.
