I really like the cp, and find the keys super nice. I recently bought a small synth with midi inputs that I connect to the reface. however when playing thw together it's pretty impractical to have to turn the reface on and off to either turn off local controls, or midi entirely. Is there anyway to do this without turning off the unit?

Two methods come to mind quickly:
1 - Turn down the Volume of the one you don’t want to hear
2 - Disconnect the cable between the two devices

There is no MIDI On/Off button.
I’m sure if you wanted to throw some money at it you could place something in between to break the connection — contact your local music retailer they may have a solution.

Thanks!
Turning the volume down is what Ive done so far. But sometimes I want to make a sequence on the Synth and then jam over that with the Reface. But i guess just plugging the midi cable will work. But that won't be handy for live use though lol. Ive been looking around, and it seems like all I need is just a basic Killswitch. Which does not seem to difficult to make yourself.
When I have the time ill get on that little diy proej

Hi --

Might be too complicated for your set-up, but there are MIDI parameters (SYSTEM) for Local Control On/Off. Please see the Reface Data List PDF, page 13.

You would need a way to send a Reface CP Parameter Change System Exclusive Message to the Reface CP. The Parameter Change SysEx message is described on page 11 in the Reface Data List.

Dunno if these changes are stored across power off. Now that would be interesting!

All the best -- pj

Use a midi cable plugged into your CP's midi out cable, convert the midi cable to 3 conductor 3.5mm TRS, use a 3.5mm a/off/b selector switch, then convert the TRS back to midi. I use this in my setup to route and shutoff midi from my master keyboard. You can send the midi to two different destinations, or off with the switch in the center. And, once converted to TRS, I use TRS cables to move and splitters to split the midi to other instruments and converters to switch it back when needed. Those cables are smaller and more convenient to use in my studio, and quite a few synths use the 3.5mm midi format now. There are 2 TRS formats, A and B, but it probably won't matter in your situation so long as you use two of the same type. Search on Amazon for a Midi TRS DIN cable, and a 3.5mm Audio Switch a/b selector (I use the one with the toggle). Good luck!
