I asked this question in September, and I need more detailed information than Bad Mister gave in his answer. Help!

I wrote:
I've recorded a 12-track song to the MOXF internal sequencer. I've gone through the exercise of recording the composite audio stream to CUBASE AI. I'd like to record the audio stream from each MOXF track to a separate CUBASE audio track. I see one can do this by using the SOLO button to select a single track and recording the audio to a CUBASE track. Then pick another track and repeat.

But how would one synchronize the tracks?

Bad Mister responded:
With Cubase as the Master MIDI Clock Source (via MOXF Port1), the MOXF will be able to slave to the Tempo set in the DAW Project. Set the MOXF to MIDI SYNC = MIDI, SEQ CTRL = In ... this will ensure that the MOXF starts/stops and runs in sync.

You don’t have to use the Solo button, when transferring data as separate audio tracks, you can setup the MOXF for dual Stereo (USB1&2 and USB3&4). Go to STUDIO and simply create/use an AUDIO CONNECTIONS > INPUT for USB 1&2, since all internal Parts are normally routed to USB3&4, simply assign the Parts you want Record as audio to Outputs USB1&2, each by each. Arm an Audio Track Set to Receive audio via the Inputs 1&2.
After you render it to audio you can then Mute the source MIDI Track data.

The Analog A/D Input is assigned to USB1&2 by default... recording via the MOXF’s input can be discreet if you isolate it on the bus (you do so by simply ensuring nothing else is currently routed to use that bus.

I need more detail --- in particular:
>>>With Cubase as the Master MIDI Clock Source (via MOXF Port1), the MOXF will be able to slave to the Tempo set in the DAW Project.
Please give me step-by-step instructions on how to set this

>>>Set the MOXF to MIDI SYNC = MIDI, SEQ CTRL = In ... this will ensure that the MOXF starts/stops and runs in sync.
I go to UTILITY -> MIDI, and the only settings for MIDI SYNC are "auto", "MTC" and "external". You designate setting 'SYNC = MIDI' That's not an option!

Please --- I need step by step instructions to implement "Cubase as the Master MIDI Clock Source (via MOXF Port1), the MOXF will be able to slave to the Tempo set in the DAW Project."

>>Go to STUDIO and simply create/use an AUDIO CONNECTIONS > INPUT for USB 1&2
This I can do --- in Studio->Audio connections in CUBASE, I set up two inputs buses, one for USB 1&2 and one for USB 3&4 I then add an Audio track in the Project menu and in the corresponding Track Inspector set the Stero Audio Track input to the bus for USB 1&2.

>> simply assign the Parts you want Record as audio to Outputs USB1&2, each by each
How does one assign a Part (track of a song) to USB 1&2 ???

Thanks
Todd

I started an answer below - before moving on to another question - I stopped. You say "MOXF" throughout - this is a forum for MODX. Typo? I would have probably preferred you tag your question at the end of the original thread so all past context is there.

----------

You assign PARTs to USB pairs (like USB1&2) by setting the output of the PART.

https://www.yamahasynth.com/modx-category/mastering-modx-audio-record-on-daw-part-1

This tutorial has you set the output by pressing the quick setup button.

Press [UTILITY]
Touch "Settings" > "Quick Setup"
Touch the option "Audio Rec on DAW":

NOTE: when you recall a Performance - unless that Performance has its audio routing INSIDE the Performance setting the PARTs' outputs to USB pairs (like USB1&2) - then the PART outputs will likely be set to Main L&R. You CAN change this and [STORE] a version (or overwrite the existing) of your Performance that has the audio routing already set so PART outputs are USB pairs. The "beauty" in following the tutorial method is that you can use a Performance you can play and hear through your Main L&R outputs (like normal) and then record that same Performance without having to menu dive too deeply or change settings back/forth. If you use, say, 4 PARTs - there is a lot of menu diving to go changing the PARTs' outputs from Main L&R to USB1&2 (PART1) USB2&3 (PART2) and so on. Pressing "Audio Rec On DAW" does this for you. It goes and menu dives and does just that - setting the PART ouputs appropriately for recording through MODX's digital outputs (USB). Just remember any time you change Performances - the Performance will override settings that were changed by pressing the "Audio Rec on DAW" template option. So you have to go back and touch that each time you switch Performances and want those settings changed for you.

If you really do want to menu dive (just FYI) - you do this:

1) Press PART1 from the HOME screen by touching the rectangle corresponding to PART1
2) Choose "Edit" from the pop-up menu that is displayed (left-hand side)
3) Navigate to menu "Part Settings" -> "General"
4) Press the parameter "Part Output" which is located on the far right above the velocity graph - change setting from what is probably "Main L&R" to "USB1&2" (under the "USB Stereo" section)
5) Repeat steps 1-4 for all other parts, but change output to next USB pair (USB3&4, USB5&6, ...)

Also note that you can get a "feel" for what the quick setup does by recalling your Performance - then just look in the above "Part Settings" -> "General" area of each PART to see what the "Part Output" is set to before pressing the quick setup template; then press the "Audio Rec on DAW" quick setup button; then come back to the PART "Part Settings" -> "General" area to look again at the "Part Output" setting and see what pressing the button did. You can change to some other Performance and switch the Performance back to the same you started with and notice the settings did not save. They reverted back. This is normal. You have to [STORE] to save anything. The PART settings of the quick settings template are temporary.
