I wish I could get used to the fact that nearly every thing we try and do nowadays is likely to require all production coming to a halt as we spend days on end diving down one dead-end rabbit hole after another trying to find accurate information. Would it be so hard for Yamaha to produce some basic tutorial videos on such things as MIDI playback through their own keyboard using the industry standard DAW, Pro Tools? I need information on how to do that. I've scoured YouTube, and the closest video I've found tells me that when I install the USB driver from Yamaha for my MAC, the CP40 is supposed to show up in my Audio Device window of my Audio MIDI Setup. It doesn't. The CP40 shows in my System Report as being connected VIA USB, but that's it. So I have to come into the forums to ask for help. I need to know the whole process. I see nothing in the manual of any help. If there is current* information out there explaining—definitively—how this is accomplished, I would greatly appreciate knowing where it is.

*"Current" is important here. Not from ancient history six months ago so that it bears no resemblance whatsoever to current operating systems, etc, which 90% of information out there seems to be.

Download the latest version of the Yamaha USB-MIDI driver for you particular Mac
I need information on how to do that. I've scoured YouTube, and the closest video I've found tells me that when I install the USB driver from Yamaha for my MAC, the CP40 is supposed to show up in my Audio Device window of my Audio MIDI Setup. It doesn't.
It will show up as a MIDI device - not an Audio Device - so that video was mistaken. Either way, the CP40 does not have a built in Audio Interface. You will need to plug the Main L/R Outputs of the CP40 Stage to the audio interface you use with Pro Tools - if/when you wish to record audio to Pro Tools.
The Driver you need to download is the Yamaha USB-MIDI Driver for your particular Mac Operating System (Link provided above). The CP40 Stage should appear on the MIDI side of your AUDIO/MIDI SETUP, once the correct driver is installed.
Connect the CP40 Stage to your computer via the [TO HOST] port using a USB cable. Use appropriate adapter to connect to Mac computer.
On the CP40 Stage
Press [UTILITY]; select 02: MIDI using [up] and [down] cursor arrows;
Press [ENTER];
Set IN/OUT to “USB”.
Press [STORE] to make this apart of your instruments system settings.
