Something strange happened with my Moxf. After installing successfully two banks from the "Inspiration in a flash library" and the 16 voices included in the "CP1 library" everything seemed to be OK. But today, when i was playing the "Old Century" piano which i installed in the USR3:016 (A16) the keyboard suddenly froze. I mean there was no sound and the knobs did not respond. I had to turn off the unit. When i turned it on again I played some other sounds, but when i played with the "Old Century" piano then the keyboard froze again. Did i do something wrong during installation?. Should i check the O.S?. I'm worried...
Thank you very much

Sorry you are having issues with your MOXF and your Flash Board.

Yes, if you have not updated your firmware, please do so. This would be the best place to start.
The latest firmware version is 1.11.x
You can check your version as follows
Press [UTILITY]
Press [JOB]
On this screen you will set Boot and Firm version
Firm should be 1.11.x

If not please go to http://download.yamaha.com
Select your country
And type in your MODEL NAME: MOXF8
When the SEARCH RESULTS appear verify your model: MOXF8
The items for your MOXF will appear.

This may not fix your issue but at least we can illuminate this as a possible cause.

Other things on the checklist:
Verify that Flash Board reports the amount of information that you expect.
Press [FILE]
Press [F6] FLASH

While here, check your Waveform List
You do so by pressing [SF2] DELETE
You don't need to delete anything just yet, use the Data Dial to scroll the list. What you want to determine is if you have more Waveform than you should... Make note of the number of Waveforms.

Go to the Voice "CP Grand" USER3:001(A01)
Press [EDIT]
Press [1] to view Element 1 parameters
[F1] OSC
[SF1] WAVE
Make note of the Wave Number

Worst case scenario... Format your Flash Board, which completely deletes all data on it, and reload your data... It could be simply a corrupted install.

Let us know.

Hello
Thank you for your quick response.
Definitely I'll have to download and install the latest firmware. I realized that the one installed in my Moxf is the 1.03 version. Anyway i started, as you recommend it to me, verifying the Flash Board's amount of information for those voices. I selected "CF Grand" USR3:001(A01). You wrote "CP Grand", was that a mistake or we have different libraries?. These are the results:

001:CF 127 St
002:CF 094 St
003:CF 084 St
004:CF 074 St
005:CF 064 St
006:CF Key Off St
007:CF SW

Is this the way it should be?. Thanks, again!

That was a typo, Should have been "CF GRAND"

I thought you said you installed two banks of Inspiration in a Flash prior to loading the Piano library. So I'm surprised the Inspiration in a Flash data is not first.

Hi Julian,

I think it's a known issue with pre 1.10 OS. I remember a post on motifator.com more than one year ago where someone had exactly the same issue with the Old Century patch. Was solved with OS 1.10 / 1.11, it is even described in the patch doc:

"Solved a problem that operation might freeze when an empty waveform is selected and a continued note-on message is received with the XA control set to KeyOffSound in Voice Element Edit."

Remember to back up your songs etc. They will be gone after updating.

Thank you very much for your replies Bad Mister and Falk. After updating the firmware, everything seems to be OK.
Now i'm ready to face new goals: I'll install cubase to start to record new songs!
