I'm having a lot of trouble figuring out how to record raw audio to my pc using Cubase with my MOXF 8.
I hook up my MOXF8 to my PC using the usb connection. I open up Cubase LE AI Elements 8 64 Bit, select the first option I see "Yamaha MOXF6_MOXF8
with VST editor (2StereoRec Mode)
I go to record a track and regardless if I have monitoring on or off it seems like it is recording it as a midi?
My first problem is when I go to play it back in Cubase, I don't hear anything. To hear what it sounds like, I have to export it as midi, but I don't want a midi I want the actual raw audio in a .wav format.
My second problem is, even if I go to File->Export->Audio Mixdown and I export it, it is like it doesn't actually export the audio that I recorded, but it instead exports the current audio being played on my keyboard. I tested this by going to export a track and playing a different track while the export was occurring, and I could only hear what I was playing while it was exporting. Here are my audio mixdown settings
Please tell me if there's anything I can add that could help diagnose my problem. Would it make it easier if I bought an extra sound card? Because my PC is only using the built in soundcard.

You should not be using a template unless it serves your exact purpose. I would forgo using this template especially since it is not what you want to do. Yes, it is the first one you see, but that is its only redeeming value (based on your stated goal: "...how to record raw audio to my pc using Cubase with my MOXF 8."
We wrote a step-by-step tutorial that introduces you to recording (first) just simple audio to a stereo track in Cubase AI. (That's another thing, you want to select AI, not LE or the other, use Cubase AI)
AI or Advanced Integration has special built-in features for Yamaha products like your MOXF! Make sure you launch AI.

This first segment will teach you about how "raw AUDIO" is recorded from the MOXF to Cubase AI. There is no MIDI involved... At this point. It simply takes you through how audio is routed and recorded to Cubase. The Yamaha Steinberg USB driver has both a MIDI and an audio component - that are setup separately.
The second and third installments of the article, introduce simultaneous vocal and synth recording (if you play and sing), and slowly we introduce you to MIDI. The Basic MIDI Record section, introduces MIDI recording, clock and sync issues. Ultimately, the advantages of recording MIDI are pointed out and we get into the "virtual" routing scenario. (You may decide there is no reason to record as MIDI, your mileage will vary).
You will record MIDI tracks via VST routing so that the MIDI data triggers the hardware MOXF via the VST EDITOR. This advanced routing allows the MOXF to "return" audio so that the MIDI data can be rendered to audio via the EXPORT > AUDIO MIXDOWN function.
If you simply want to record "raw audio", as you'll see, that's easy.
If however you want to turn MIDI tracks into audio (via VST routing), that's a separate step, with a different setup. The tutorial series will show you how that routing is accomplished.
I recommend you work your way up to VST routing and exporting MIDI (via hardware) to audio. Take one step at a time. This way, when something is not working you will know why, and more importantly, how to make it work. The problem with templates is - you don't get to learn what they are doing.
