I bought the motif ex6 used ,supposed in mint condition and no some things dont seem correct......QUESTION..-When making a "performance" i make sure i initialize a location and then add the voice...All the effects of that voice should be included in that voice too ,shouldnt it?? For some reason the effects that i program in the voice are not evident when i use it in a Performance.

We are sure you mean ES6, (as there never was an EX6).

All the effects of that voice should be included in that voice too ,shouldnt it??

No, only those Effects that are programmed as part of the Voice are included (the two Insertion Effects). Those that are System or Master Effects are not included.

Here's how it works:
The Insert Effects are those that part of the Instrument. They are programmed so that real time Controllers interact with them. If you think of a VOICE as an individual musician, that musician can have two personal effects. A guitar with a wah-wah pedal and distortion. Or an organ with an overdrive and rotary speaker. These effects are the personal property of those musicians, they do not share them with other band members.

System Effects are shared effects. Like a band would have a mixer with two Aux Sends, one for the Reverb Effect, the other for the Time Delay effects (called "Chorus" here, but includes delays, echoes, flangers, chorus, phasers, etc.) and like on a mixer each channel has a send amount, the return from the System effects get mixed to the stereo output... These two Effect blocks recreate the outer environment... The room acoustics (reverberation) and external time delays that happen when music is played into a space... The outer environment. Those musicians have no direct real time control.

Just before the Main Output you have the Master Effect and the Master EQ.

So only the Insert Effects are brought along to a Performance or Song/Pattern Mixing, not the System Effects, nor the Master effects.

In a Performance or Mixing setup, each Part has a Send to the Reverb and a Send to the Chorus, but they all share them same as a band with a mixing console.

You can setup a Reverb and a Chorus for all 16 Parts to send into, same as you would in a recording studio or on a gig where everyone is plugged into a mixer. You can COPY the effects from one Part to be the "shared" effect.

But if VOICE mode is the musician at home (where they have full range of both personal, and environmental effects) the the PERFORMANCE and MIXING modes are where they share the environmental effects.

So let's put the info I gave you to use. You mention you placed "a long echo" on the Sax VOICE... which effect block did you use to apply this "long echo", was it an Insertion Effect? Was it a System Effect?

This will help you to determine the answer and what to do to recreate it in your Performance.
Go to your VOICE in VOICE mode
Press [F6] EFFECT>
This will take you to an overview of your Effect blocks. You will see the two Insertion Effects, A and B. Also the two System blocks Rev and Cho.

Thank you BAD MISTER!! I applied your knowledge and works as you said....Thank you...Is it true that in the XF series you start with a voice ,then use the LAYER button so you procede with all effects already applied???( i also have a Moxf8 and seems to be the case)
. Now what i asked about the mute/solo button...I believe this button should turn them on and OFF-correct?? Mine only turns on and not back off=would a factory reset solve this, you think ?? I hate to put it in the shop if this may work....our local servicer takes monthes sometimes to do repairs...Holland Oh.43528
Thank you again!!

There is no LAYER button on the Motif XF, as there is on the MOXF. The MOXF has what is called "PERFORMANCE CREATOR" to make putting together Splits and Layers quickly easy. The Motif XF does not have this feature, you can create your own Splits and Layers but there is no "quick/easy" method, you do it by programming.

I think you are misunderstanding what the MUTE button does. It is not to turn Effects ON and OFF.

A [MUTE] button simply temporarily disconnects a PART from going to the audio outputs.
What exactly do you want to do?

No...i totally understand and have used the mute/solo function quite a while....ive owned a MO8 for 5-6 + years and have had my MOXF8 for 1+ years ...This problem im having with the Motifxs6 has nothing to do with the effects problem...its that the MUTE/SOLO buttons arent functioning as im used to on my Mo boards..the buttons turn ON with no problem but wont switch OFF!!
I would assume the button is defective but it works turning on so im thinking it maybe a software issue...so would a factory reset fix this problem??

Sorry, I lost track of your thread. The MUTE/SOLO buttons should behave exactly like they do on the MO. So it does indeed sound like some sort of issue. Make a backup of your current data in an ALL data file (because resetting will purgevall user data), and perform a Factory Set

Press [UTILITY]
Press [JOB]
Press [ENTER]
Press [YES]

Let us know.
