Hi @Auriak. Soundmondo currently works with the 4 different Reface instruments.

There are future plans - exactly how this will all work is in the stage between plan and implementation. We are learning what works in the reface community, and this will help shape the direction for other communities.

Currently, reface owners can interact with others with like models, more than 3000 sounds have already been posted, some with soundcloud examples, some with videos, but all shareable and all with patch guides do you can see how the sound was made!

New features have been added, and it's a work in progress. Stay tuned. YamahaSynth will be your portal to the future!

SoundMondo for Montage will undoubtedly be a great thing for its lucky users. On the other hand, beside the fact Montage is compatible with Motif XF at Voice level, SoundMondo might become a double-edged sword. For instance all commercial soundbanks developed by KeyFax, EasySounds and other brands might be passed off as original patches, differently named. Thus, how can be this annoying thing be stopped?
Perhaps using a similar approach as Korg Kronos sound libraries, protected by a serial number tied to the instrument owner.

Soundmondo is absolutely wonderful--especially for the reface DX since fm is still rather foreign to me. If it is added to the Montage line, it will be an instant buy.

Yamaha, this totally sets you apart from the competition--please do this!

I think it's great to pilot Soundmondo with reface. This makes sense.

Some of Soundmondo should translate well to the Montage such as the DX7.

It would be nice to have an audition without the need for the device to be connected via MIDI. Maybe away from the board - or even as a form of advertisement for what the instrument can do with the said patch.

A possible idea would be to auto-generate a few sound files with the Soundmondo submitted patch used. On the back-end I'm sure it's possible to queue up auto loading the patch into either real hardware, playing a pre-canned MIDI file, and saving the audio for the audition link.

Anyone without the said keyboard could hear a few samples of what that patch would sound like and possibly be influenced to purchase more Yamaha.

On the commercial Soundbank front - I'm sure this can be managed. Either by moderators, running "diffs" to check for blatant violations ("sorry, content matches XYZ" - which would require constant updates). Sharing commercial software outside of the license agreement is wrong. I'm not sure having a centrally managed database hosted by Yamaha is going to increase the amount of people who elect to do the wrong thing. I would hope that sharing user created public domain content overrides any concern as the benefits are very high to both the users and Yamaha.

Commercial libraries will still have a place as their experience, premium recording equipment, and experience (yes, listed twice) will always have value beyond the "average" user.

It'd be great to tap into the social media nature of almost everything and have free libraries of sets (correct splits, layers) using presets and modified presets or even some DIY recorded new sampled material for cover tunes we sometimes find ourselves in situations playing. Some boards have performances setup named after tunes -- which is something I felt was cool when I'd run into a certain critical mass of Steely Dan or other groups I dug. Even some dated material - playing the performances and going "oh yea, that does sound like that tune" is its own form of inspiration.

If that comes from a community instead of "out of the box" - that's fine. Also lets me pick and choose.

No need to "sell" this as the plans are currently in the works.
