Gear: Windows 10 Home 64 Bit | Cubase Artist 9.5.3 | Montage 6 with OS2.5 | Yamaha Steinberg USB Driver V1.10.1 Arturia V Collection 6

I'm loving the new Remote Control feature in OS2.5, however I can't get it to control plugings 🙁 I followed this article to the letter https://www.yamahasynth.com/montage-category/montage-os-v2-5-using-the-new-daw-remote-feature-in-cubase. Remote control of Cubase Tracks, and transport all work perfectly. 🙂 I love using the Montage Scroll wheel to scrub forward and back in the Cubase track. 🙂 BUT _ I can't get the plugins to work. I tried the Retrolog as described in the article, and right click on Learn CC, move a slider on Montage, but but it it always just moves the Retrolog mod wheel. I also tried on Arturla Instruments that have a learn function, and it fails.

Any ideas what I'm missing?

I don't have the firmware - do the slider CCs pre-populate with values when you switch to plugin mode? I thought there were blanks to fill in so you could setup CC values for the sliders. Assuming you've entered some values - then any plugins with learn should see the activity spilling out. I'm not sure which MIDI channel that all is going to use - haven't read the docs enough to learn yet - but those should come out of Port-1 (not Port-2).

When you initially switch to plugin mode everything is set to zero / off.

Move the sliders around and the numbers change on Montage screen.

Go to Retrolog and click Learn CC near a slider - move Montage slider, but nothing happens. they do not 'pair'.

And strangely, if I right click near a slider in Retrolog and choose 'Enable Modulation Wheel', it pairs the montage mod wheel with that slider.

What am I doing wrong here? 😮

Hi George.
To be sure all is fine to control VSTi like Retrologue in plugin mode, have you press on top right "Edit" and have you set for each controller a control change ?

That's the first step, because by default all CC are set to control change 1 :

Set your control changes for each knob, faders, button you need to use, press "done" after you can go to retrologue an use Learn CC.

Here screen shoots are on Track mode, of course do not forget to pass in plugin mode to control Retrologue.

I have made a Moessieurs video about Remote, it cover all Remote using, Plugin mode start at 12min13, in the video i have already set my control changes for each controller before to record the video but you can seen them and how it's work with Retrologue.

Hope it's help

Hi Joel

That's it! Its all works perfectly now 🙂 As per your suggestion - I hit edit and allocated a controller number to each slider. Thanks so much for help - and for pointing me to your videos - I now joined your 1700 subscribers on YouTube
