Not sure if anyone else has experienced this but I recently tried installing the Yamaha Steinberg OSX USB midi driver and Montage Connect plug in for Logic Pro X. Installation went fine or so I thought. I created a new external midi track for the Montage in Logic, midi channel ALL on which I recorded the montage. However whenever I move away from that track say to another external midi track in Logic and then go back to the Montage instrument track, the sound on the montage has changed. For example I used a bright piano voice but when I moved off the track to another and then back again, its as though the filter settings for the patch have changed and the sound is barely audible and muffled. Other sounds also changed to duller versions. I can only assume logic is sending out some midi controller data to the montage each time I select the midi track. If I change the voice on the Montage screen to another and then back again, the sound is fine as it reloads.
Anyway I spent hours checking all settings in logic but couldn't find the reason. In the end I uninstalled the Steinberg USB midi driver AND the Montage connect plugin and now everything is working fine.
Whilst I had the plug in installed I did try the montage connect plugin on a spare track to send/receive patch data. That side of things worked, but as above each time I moved away from the montage instrument midi track and returned to it, the voice would change. I ensured all send/receive program numbers and sys ex were disabled but the same happened each time. Could there be a problem with the Steinberg USB midi driver, maybe clashing with another USB driver? Or could it the Montage connect plugin? Or maybe I just didn't configure something correctly?

Regards
Simon

Montage Connect has an "auto sync" feature which I would try turning off if it is on.

Otherwise, I would hope Montage Connect's contribution would be passive (not doing anything) unless you were interacting with it.

You changed two things at once - so it's difficult to pinpoint if Montage Connect itself was contributing. Should be easy enough to leave the driver intact and only remove Montage Connect in order to better isolate and assign cause.

Try following this tutorial guide here on Yamaha Synth (link provided below). It is very likely that you missed an important step in getting it connected... if you get stuck post back with specific questions.

The are no "Voices" on the Montage, there are "Parts" that are contained in "Performances"... when you say you called up a "bright piano voice", you can be more specific... did you recall an entire Performance, or did you just activate a Part?

Either way, as you go through the tutorial try to pick up on the terminology used in the product it will help you, and help those who attempt to help you get up and running. You will want to get Montage Connect AU utility properly installed and working in your Logic Pro workflow. You'll find it invaluable for capturing and recalling your Performance setups for each project.
