Hi,

Is there any update on the DAW remote control feature for the MODX. I expected something to be announced at the NAMM 2019.

I'm a big fan and happy with my MODX as I was with my MotifXS, but come on Yamaha - you have such a great piece of musical hardware, don't miss the potential of software there!

Thanks!
Roland

Jan 21, 2016 - Yamaha Montage announced at NAMM
July 31, 2018 (2.5 yrs later) - Yamaha Montage Firmware v2.50 released with DAW Remote Control support

I'm sure MODX will not have the same temporal gap as the heavy lifting has already been spearheaded on Montage.

Hi, is there any update from Yamaha on this? Confirmation that the promised enhancements would be delivered would be great.

I asked the same question in September 2018, before purchasing MODX, since DAW control is important for my workflow. Back then, I was led to believe that I won't be wrong if I expect this feature to be added with a future update. Of course, no timelines provided.
Now, six months later we cannot even get a straight answer if this feature is on the updates roadmap. Is it considered, is it scrapped? Any official answer?

Yamaha thus far has delivered on firmware promises. Sometimes it took a very long time (year+ ). It's pure speculation that it should not take as long for MODX to arrive at DAW remote control vs. Montage - but who knows.

Perhaps July 18th-ish 2019 (around 10AM CST)? Absolutely no particular reason I picked that date/time.

Jason, with all due respect to you and your immense help in this forum, I am sure you understand that people are looking for some sort of official answer from Yamaha here. At this point any sort of answer from official Yamaha representative will be OK, but complete silence and ignoring customer questions is bad customer support!
Anything between "We cannot comment on this topic right now" and "We have it in our plans, but no release date available yet", anything?

People have advertised wanting official details of future firmware updates. Those details rarely are met with official pre-announce information. Unless you want total radio-silence, the only other option is for the community to speculate/predict. Not sure how taking a guess represents a misunderstanding of the intent.

Here's a small collection of the usual - official - responses to inquiries about future firmware updates (none below regarding this thread's question - none are duplicates of the same request - they're each some different item):

there may indeed be some kind of change in an OS (it has been discussed) - if there is, you will hear about it here first!

If we hear anything from engineering you'll hear it here first.

But in either case, you will not (and should not) expect a definitive answer here, necessarily. ... If there's is an update you will hear about it here in YamahaSynth.com

For Start/Stop - there's a configuration option to send these out.

Transmit (Transmit Sequencer Control)
Determines whether the Sequencer Control signals—start and stop of Song—will be transmitted to MIDI or
not.
Settings: Off, On

These are transmitted on the USB port #1 I believe (not the transport port #2).
