Mapping notes in true stereo?

Is there a way of mapping the notes of, for example, the FM and Rhodes pianos in true stereo so they pan gradually from A-1 (at say 40% left) to C7 at 40% right? I'm not talking about auto-pan or pseudo stereo effects - I mean creating a stereo instrument like the acoustic pianos so when you play a wide chord, the notes are spread across the stereo image?

Speaking of which, has anyone noticed anything funky with the Upright Piano? On mine, the stereo image doesn't run consistently up the keyboard - certain notes stick out as having odd stereo placement. Stick on a pair of headphones and play the octave above middle C, where the notes should be gradually panning to the right - the D, D# and E suddenly jump to the left before springing back right again on the F. This happens in a few octaves - if I play a chromatic run up the keyboard I notice a few instances where the stereo placement jumps around.

In the AWM2 engine such panning is handled on the per Element basis by the parameter "Scaling Pan":
Determines the degree to which the notes (specifically, their position or octave range) affect the Pan position, left and right, of the selected Element. At note C3, the main Pan setting is used for the basic Pan position.
Settings: -64 – +0 – +63
Positive values: Moves the pan position to the left for lower notes and to the right for higher notes.
Negative values: Moves the pan position to the right for lower notes and to the left for higher notes.

In the FM-X engine such panning is handle at Part Common level of editing, again by the parameter "Scaling Pan":
Determines the degree to which the notes (specifically, their position or octave range) affect the Pan position, left and right, of the selected Operator. At note C3, the main Pan setting is used for the basic Pan position.
Positive settings will cause the Pan position to be set left when you play in the lower range on the keyboard and to be set right when you play in the higher range on the keyboard.
A negative setting will have the opposite effect.
Settings: -64 – +0 – +63
