Hi, I tried to import a performance from a library with "library import" and it did not work. There was no error message, but the wav files did not copy.

Also, I cannot find where to check the available memory. I forgot and cannot find the setting. please, where is it hidden?

That's the hidden menu. First question - I'm not sure what your source data was, but there was once a discussion from BM about importing data. That's older firmware, but I wonder how much those old rules apply today and if you happen to be bit by this.

Source: https://yamahasynth.com/ask-a-question/library-performance-to-user-library-import-not-sending-all-elements-only-the-first-element-totally-baffled

I have recently had an issue with non-SampleRobot content. The EDM Experience X6A converted from voices (EDMEXP library) and performances (P_EDMEXP library) did not import to the user area properly. The voices would (EDMEXP library) - but the Performances - at least the first I tried (from P_EDMEXP) did not import the Waveforms. The Waveform still pointed to the Library instead of copying to the user area.

BM Response:

If your goal is assemble a new MONTAGE LIBRARY from legacy File data the following rules apply:

When loading legacy files (MOXF, Motif XS/XF) if you select to convert “Voice” the MONTAGE will create and catalog all Normal User Voices and User Drum Kit Voices as Single Part MONTAGE Performances. The significance of them being Single Part programs means they have a full catalog (anchor) status with an MSB/LSB and PC of its own. You can convert the legacy files using “Content Type = User File” or “Content Type = Library”. The difference: if you convert them to User all will occupy User locations... including any Arpeggios and Waveforms.
If you convert them directly to a Library all will occupy that Library, including the Arps and Waveforms, with the ability to utilize the “Library Import” feature that will “repoint” each AWM2 Element to the copy it moved to the User Waveform area. This repointing is necessary only when attempting to assemble data to create a new Library.

However, when loading legacy files set to convert “Performance”, the MONTAGE will install all 256 MOXF Performances directly to the Library, including the Arps and the Waveforms. Because the Performances have multiple Parts, the cataloging of the data is not the same as when you convert individual legacy “Voices”... the data is playable, but you will find that attempting to use “Library Import” will not repoint any of the data during the Import.

If you wish to assemble legacy Performances to a new Library, the methodology is different.
When loading the legacy MOXF, Motif XS/XF “Perf” you should load them directly to the USER Bank. (The MONTAGE will not repoint Waveforms when Multi Part Performances are moved by “Library Import” ). The (only) way to get the legacy Performance into USER memory is to load them directly to USER.

Not saying you were using legacy/converted data - but, without yet knowing how you arrived at the Library data, it's still one of the scenarios that could match your results that I've run across.

If this scenario does match what you're doing then the suggestion here for legacy (converted) data is to load the user area first instead of installing to the library followed by a library import.

Hi, I tried to import a performance from a library with "library import" and it did not work. There was no error message, but the wav files did not copy.

Using “Library Import”
Press [UTILITY]
Touch “Contents” > “Library Import” > What appears is a Folder for each currently installed Library
Tap the Folder you wish to work with...

The Performance names in that Library appear.
Place a check mark next to each Performance you wish to import.
When you’ve marked all of the Performance names (there can be several Pages of data, depending on the Library.
Tap “Import to User Bank”

The MONTAGE will execute the copying and repointing of the data.

When complete you can review and verify what was imported:
Press [UTILITY] > “Contents” > “Data Utility” > here you can review the Performance, Waveform and Arp Folders to review what data has been imported to join the data currently in your User Bank.

Touch the “Performance” folder to see the data in your current User Bank (please realize, the newly imported Performance(s) join those that currently occupy the User Bank.
Touch the “Waveform” folder to see the current Waveform data in your User Bank (if any new Waveforms were imported, they will now appear here.
Touch the “Arp” folder to see the current Waveform data in your User Bank.

Alternate verification Methods:
From the [PERFORMANCE (HOME)] screen...
Press [CATEGORY SEARCH]
Set the”Bank/Favorite” = USER
Set “Attribute” = All
Here you can review all Performances currently in your a User Bank.

Method 2... search Waveforms:
Call up the “Init Normal (AWM2)” Performance
Select Part 1
Press [EDIT]
Touch “Elem1” along the bottom of the screen
Touch “Osc/Tune” > tap the box containing the Wave Name
Touch “Category Search” to launch the Waveform Search engine (amber)
Set the “Bank” = User
Here you can see a list of your User Bank Waveforms... the imported Waveforms should be among them... you can increment through the Waveforms... notice the BANK - it tells you from where the current selection resides.

ok, I found out the remaining memory is pretty much zero. it says 1,7 of 1,8 is used. I suppose that´s why the performance (from an easysound library) was not imported. but there was no "memory full" error. shouldn´t there have been one?

so with this in mind...how do I find out which libraries take how much space? can this be seen somewhere on the montage or do I have to look for them on my pc and check?

and let´s say I delete one of the 8 libraries, does this change the order of the others that are installed or not?

I had a similar problem with no warning occurring, but the installation failing, for the install of the 3rd of three, in the old firmware. I only realised the problem when looking at the unpacked sizes of the libraries I was installing and realised they couldn't all fit. It was Bosendorfer, the Extended FM thing and something else I can't remember. All free ones. This was my first real shock in terms of discovering how poorly "designed" the MODX user experience is...

yes, when memory is full, you will see an error message if you attempt to load more data.

so with this in mind...how do I find out which libraries take how much space? can this be seen somewhere on the montage or do I have to look for them on my pc and check?

To see the size of each installed Library:
Press [UTILITY]
Touch “Contents” > “Data Utility” > Touch the “Library” folder... each installed Library and its size will be shown.

and let´s say I delete one of the 8 libraries, does this change the order of the others that are installed or not?

Not sure what difference the order makes, but no, I’m pretty sure if you delete one of the Libraries, the only thing that changes is that Library is gone... there are no instructions as to the order... items are searched for by name.

well, since I had no error message, then the cause was not because there´s no memory left. it wasn´t a legacy file but an easysounds "melodic techno" performance.

when I ask about deleting a library, I meant in case I have some user files using some library wavs that I did not import, will these connections be affected by deleting just one library?

I am thinking of not doing the whole import thing anymore, because in this case, I discovered the wavs did not import into user when my song was already almost finished and I started elaborating on the drums and there was nothing there but a snare and a bassdrum... and also one of the parts was completely mute. a part I did not miss. so this is when I realised the importing had not worked. so, kind of stupid now.... it would have been better if I had just edited that library performance without importing. then I would have the drum sounds now....
