hi, I was just jamming on something with the drumkit iranian beat and tried tor record it right there on the Montage as a midi file, but the standard click track was way way off. impossible to play to that. it there any way to quickly figure out on the Montage what time signature to set the click to without searching the manual for the particular drumkit´s beat?

The click was way off ... (?)
What click are you referring to? The internal click? Cubase?

I assume when you say “DrumKit Iranian beat” you are referring to the Arpeggiator... (?)
Arpeggios in Time Signatures other than 4/4 will be identified by including it within their name... 12/8, 6/8, etc
Those without a Time Signature value in the name can be assumed to be 4/4.

If you are referring to the “Iranian Mix Kit” the Arp Phrases associated with this Kit are all 4/4 time
If you are referring to the “New Iranian Kit 1” the Arp Phrases associated with this Kit are all 4/4 time
If you are referring to the “New Iranian Kit 2” the Arp Phrases associated with this Kit are all 4/4 time

Extra Credit:
Recording Arps has a human factor... what I mean is — it requires the note-on event that starts the Arp to be strategically placed (exactly) on the downbeat. That is Measure 1, Beat 1, Clock 00.
If you’re late (behind the beat) the entire Arp Phrase will be shifted late, behind the beat. The MONTAGE provides an automatic method that not only ensures the Start (note-on) but guarantees a clean End. Trying to land on the downbeat using the count-in and trying to Stop the sequencer before it loops around, can be tricky. Here’s how MONTAGE makes this easy:

When recording Arpeggios to the internal Pattern Sequencer it is recommended that you...
set the Scene LENGTH as you desire. Say you want to create an 8 measure Scene.
“Length” = 8
Press [RECORD]
Set “KEY ON START” = On
Set “LOOP” = Off
Make sure the Master ARP ON/OFF = On
And make sure the Transport is at Measure 1, Beat 01:00 (the top)
You can set Arp Hold by holding [SHIFT] while touching the Part’s “Arp On” box in the screen. The Arp box will turn amber indicating hands free play (you only need touch a key to transfer the Arp data to MIDI event data.

Now when you touch the keyboard the Arp will automatically punch in and will automatically punch out when the LENGTH is reached.
This GUARANTEES that, not only will the Click be on time, you will transfer the Arp Phrase to the Sequencer PERFECTLY... every time.

When you play it back it will cycle perfectly

Let us know.

You see why Montage is far beyond my reach...still yet.
But perhaps one day...

Ethnic beats.... suggestion.

It may be that the idea in your head is not 4/4. I had a short stint learning tabla drums, where the "cycle" could be so long it could barely be defined. The method they used was like reciting a long poem, and the tabla drum patterns followed the syllables in the poem. Each word or phrase in the poem was a drum pattern. Some phrases repeated, but not necessarily symmetrically. Needless to say, the "poems" had to be memorised in full to the last syllable by the drummer.

So... I am guessing OP would like a persistent click without the accents.... a tempo/speed to follow but no delineation of bars.

My suggestion would be to set the time signature to 1/16, 1/8, or 1/4. This would in effect make it 1 beat per bar, each beat would be the first beat of the bar - each click would be accented, so there would be no audible delineation.

Examples:
Sig 1/4, Beat 1/4, Quantize 1/16

Sig 1/8, Beat 1/8, Quantize 1/16

Sig 1/16, Beat 1/16, Quantize 1/32

Might be worth a try?

btw.... Time Signature (as far as I can tell) is only set in the Play/Rec screens.

The Click Beat (length) and Click Sound (Type) is set in Utility-Tempo Settings.

Tempo can be set in multiple locations in the Performance.
