Hello,
I tried to find the Thread where shows how to be free up the Montage Memory for Loading the new Library into Montage.

I have 8 Libraries in my Montage, and update to new OS version on yesterday, And I delete one of the un-used Library, and try to load the new Library but there not enough memory to load the new library

* How can I free up the memory on Montage?

Thanks

You should read the threads which cover resources. Number of waveforms, total storage capacity (GB) for waveforms, etc. Also, understand if you import resources from the library to user area to edit - then understand your user area will have a copy of the waveform and this takes up additional space that doesn't go away when you remove the library.

Go into your utility/contents area and look at what information is given in terms of used resources.

Montage doesn't have a 100% "clean" presentation of this. There's no summary of all resources used with areas (user, library) delineated and then totals ("roll up") given. The libraries you purchase do not have full statistics for how much space they use. So there is some burden on you to understand how the system works to appreciate how much and where your resources are utilized.

Backup your user area then erase your user area. Just clear that plate to see if the user area is contributing.

If that doesn't get you there - you'll have to prune the library tree. Any libraries you have loaded - import only the "keepers" to an empty user area - then save the user (of the pruned keepers) as a library. Then delete the original library from Montage memory you imported from. Then load your pruned "keeper" library.

Understand that reducing a library down to even one performance may not save any resources if all the performances use the same waveforms. In other words - removing or keeping some performances over others will have a bigger/smaller/or no impact to the resources. The level of detail to determine this is not given by the sound libraries - you need to go and look at performances to see what waveforms they use and map this out if you want to really "know". Or just use the shotgun approach and cross your fingers -- which is perfectly valid -- and just go about assembling a set of "keepers" hoping you're minimizing resources.

You would do this for all your libraries one by one.

Some form of librarian (external software) would help here too.

Making effeicent use of a Library is a start. A Library can hold 640 Performances... if you have a Library with just 16 Performances in it - that might not be a very efficient use of an entire Library slot. For example, the Bosendorfer Library gives you 16 Performances... you might want to create your own set of Performances that use the Bosendorfer piano data... and later you might add other Acoustic Pianos to this Library... renaming it "Acoustic Pianos", for example...

But running out of memory locations is a different issue from running out of room for custom Waveform and Sample data. You will be out of memory whenever you reach any of the limit parameters. If, for example, you were to use all 1.75GB of available memory with a single Library, you will not be able to create any additional Libraries. Yes there would be 7 empty locations but if you fill the instrument's 1.75 amount capacity for Waveforms/Samples, you're still out of memory.

What is your application? In general, you want to keep data in Libraries that take time to install (Libraries with a large amount of custom Wave data) and data that you want to take with you to gigs for accessibility. If you're at home in your home studio, it would just as efficient to store many of your Performances on your computer using either the free MONTAGE CONNECT or using the MediaBay/SoundBrowser built-in to the Cubase DAW.
