I am hoping someone can help me with setting up a new MOXF8 with Studio One 3.0. I am new to both and am having trouble getting the DAW to receive and transmit MIDI data with the keyboard via USB. Is there somewhere I can go with instructions on how to do this? Thanks for the help.

We can help you with the MOXF8... you need to download the appropriate Yamaha Steinberg USB Driver for your computer type (you don't mention which you are using). The Driver will handle both the MIDI and Audio data sent by the MOXF8.

For help with setting up StudioOne it is only fair to contact PreSonus as they would be best to instruct you on their software. While they may not have specific answers for you concerning the MOXF8, they just need to know that you are using the Yamaha Steinberg USB driver as the ASIO driver. They can tell you where exactly you setup the Ports for audio.

The MOXF is capable of sending audio on four ports via USB. Ports 1/2 by default are set to the A/D Input of the MOXF, and Port 3/4 are the default for the internal MOXF multi-timbral tone engine. So you will want to setup two stereo INPUT buses in your DAW. Set these to receive from the MOXF USB 1/2 and 3/4

The USB-MIDI will show up in your DAW as "Yamaha MOXF8-1 (port 1) for both MIDI IN and MIDI OUT communication.

Wow....thanks for the fast reply. I am using a PC and I have already loaded up the Sternberg USB driver. I will contact Presonus and work through it with their info and yours. I'll let you know how it goes. Again, thanks for the quick response.

You will discover exact version numbers and names are often necessary; it will help you to be precise when seeking help. The driver you mean is the "Yamaha Steinberg USB driver version 1.9.2 for Windows". (There is no such thing as the "Steinberg USB driver" ) and there are many different Yamaha drivers, so just be precise, it will help whomever is helping you. Most likely they don't have the gear (MOXF) nor the driver to test, so they will be reading a name and version number. If something is not working, most often, it is a combination of versions that are fault.

You will be looking to select this driver in the appropriate places within Studio One.

Also you want to be sure on the MOXF side that you have the latest firmware version (Operating System Updater 1.10)... Systems that include software and hardware are always in motion, knowing you have the appropriate versions is simply a very important part of this whole thing. Let us know if you need any further assistance..
