I'm trying to recorded single 16 parts midi data from Montage into cubase 8.5 . like Bad Mister in the links below
I have followed all the steps
but when i set the Cubase Montage midi port 1 out to "ANY" as he describes in the tutorials for some strange reason part 16 sounds when I have selected part 1 on the Montage . Now if I just go and change from "ANY: to 1 then it plays correctly but part 16 also sounds but i don't want that very frustrating .
Can someone help me to see what I'm missing . I have no other things connected just Montage going to Cubase , sad because this work flow seems perfect if I can get it to work properly .

Mac OSx Yosemite
Cubase Pro 8.5
Montage 6 - Multi i/o part mode , midi rec on daw ,midi sync , performance Multi/GM (just like in the tutorials linked below
Cubase 8.5 -devices Montage , port 1 in yes visible , in all midi yes active only
port 1 out yes active
Midi clock Montage port 1
Yes send midi clock (works )

have followed al the instructions from these links

I think you have set the MIDI I/O mode to single (?) Your description of the settings is not precise, so this is inferred. If so - what's the MIDI channel you set when using MIDI I/O = single? The video tutorial doesn't use MIDI I/O = single (it uses MIDI I/O=multi). You didn't mention the master zone setting. I would have this set to OFF to avoid part zone settings from switching your MIDI train tracks to different channels.

There may be some other basic MIDI mode settings in cubase (options) that would foul up Montage if set incorrectly.

See https://www.yamahasynth.com/forum/custom-midi-creation-format-from-cubase-daw

... for some of those settings.

Check the following: if Local Control is indeed OFF, and the Cubase MIDI Track currently selected is set to "Any", then the only way to trigger the sound in Montage Part 16, is to select Part 16 on the front panel of the Montage.

Let us know. Can you post screenshots?

SOLVED thanks so much for your swift reply !
The problem was the chord pads .
I did some testing and saw that they where going midi ballistic all over the place in multi so the workaround was to just use them on there on track and not on " ANY " midi chanell .
It took me some time to figure it out all day at it , but it was worth it .
The chord pads are very sensitive when it comes to working in Multi .
I think I read a post here where you said the chord pads don't like Multi .
And like you said in the video theres no one way to work you have to use whats best for what your trying to do at that moment .

Thank you so much Bad Mister thanks to you I think I finally found workflow with Cubase and Montage great match .
I think the next hurdle for me is getting the super knob and scenes to all work together with this workflow .
To be honest I've been somewhat intimidated by the super knob but with this new workflow with Cubase I think I'm ready to try and program it .
O and thank you Jason always so helpful .
