Has anyone gotten the ModX to work on SoundModo? I tried from the iPad and bupkis. Same from my MacBook. Even loaded Chrome. While I got the green light, still could not download any patches from the website to the ModX. I also had the ModX set to USB and followed the instructions on the video.

Is it me? or is this not working?

I've got the feeling that MODX + Soundmondo is a work-in-progress. In order to get MODX working, the server-side code needs to accommodate the differences in the device name as one consideration. I've only, thus far, seen announcements about Soundmondo working in the near future -- none that claim MODX works today.

According to Yamaha`s official product page for MODX, the Apps tab: "Soundmondo now features MONTAGE and MODX music synthesizer Performance compatibility."

https://europe.yamaha.com/en/products/music_production/synthesizers/modx/apps.html

So, I guess, it should work?

Maybe.

I do see the web version should work.

You need to have the latest Yamaha Steinberg USB Driver installed and working.

Take a look at your driver device name. You should see "MODX-1" (I think - I do not have a MODX, I'm assuming they named the driver "MODX" ). The key factor here is that there should be no number BEFORE the name. Only after (and after a dash). If there is a number before the name - this has been shown to trip up Montage and how it works (or does not) when using the web version of Soundmondo.

I do see that the backend server has javascript support for MODX - so it should work.

Although MODX Connect shouldn't necessarily be needed - I would still install that as well. Might as well have the "full suite".

The other consideration is that MODX has has a firmware update since release - so be sure your instrument is up-to-date with the latest firmware.

From my experience with Soundmondo on Montage - if something "isn't right" - the website is not going to hold your hand through the process to help correct what's missing. You have to "come in" with everything setup correctly.

Also, use Chrome. Opera also supports Webmidi (and I believe it works) - but all testing is done with Chrome, so use that.

Yeah, if you are on the Windows 10 O.S. platform take care to remember what port you first plugged the MODX into on the computer as far as the USB ports go. Plug it back into the one that shows just MIDI with no X - MIDI in the device manager under the "Software Devices" section where the "X" is a number like 1 or 2 or 3 depending on how many USB ports you have...

I read on a different forum somewhere and someone claimed Soundmondo is not available/can't be used in the US? is that correct? I thought answer was no but am not sure.

Do you need an Apple product for it to work...?

Is there a way to demo the homemade sounds - I tried going on there, but there is nothing to click on or anything...

I cannot download performances from soundmondo to my MODX.
I updated the OS to 1.10 on the MODX and got the latest version of Chrome (Windows 10 - 64 bit).
Keyboard is configured for USB midi.

Followed all your instructions, but it doesn't work.
When I hit SYNC to download a performance, it takes me to the 'save' page.

What do I try next?

1) Before pressing "Sync", did you have some preset recalled (like "CFX + FM EP" ) - and that name is different from the Soundmondo Performance you tried to transfer (from the site to your keyboard)?

2) If so, after pressing "Sync" - did you look at the Performance name from the HOME screen [PERFORMANCE] button? Is is still "CFX + FM EP" (or whatever if was to start with), or is it a different name matching the Soundmondo name?

What you are describing is how the web site reacts. And how the website reacts when you press "Sync" is confusing - but does match what you are describing (when everything works). It would be more ideal for the javascript to read the edit buffer's Performance name and, if matched with the transferred Performance, display a message that the Performance was updated. Maybe even doing a bulk dump from your keyboard to match all parameters and verify first.

It's been stated, even by Yamaha, that the online version returning you to a screen where you can instantly save ("upload" to Soundmondo) the just-transferred Performance is confusing. It has caused lots of duplicates. Also, there is not positive feedback on the website end that everything transferred OK.
