Getting good piano sound in mono?

I just started gigging with a trio. They run a Bose tower so everything is in mono.
My go-to piano is the CFX Stage, It sounds terrible in mono. It's very "thunky," a new word I invented. Sustain is compromised. It just sounds bad. It's very hard for me to play well because it sounds so bad.

Any tweaks I can make to get it to sound better?

Is it the MODX in Mono thats the issue, or the Bose Tower i.e. the PA?

You need to discuss that with the band...

Pianos, are, mono. They project their sound throughout a room, and sound good. You hear a left/right projection from the natural acoustics and reverberation of the room.

My guitar is mono. I refuse to let anyone make me go direct to FOH/PA. However I will allow my 2x12 Vox AC30 to be miced... that allows my 2x 12inch Celestion Blues to continue to do their thing to the ambient space. 2x12 (or even 4x12 cabs) "push more air", which is a little different from pure volume.... they can sound louder and richer, without the strain of higher sheer volume.

I've noticed that my guitsr going direct (without a real cab, or using an XLR, Cab Sim etc) the sound in the room always sounds flat and brittle.

Have a think on that. Acoustics can be quite illusory.

MODX piano's are not mono. Lower notes sound more to the left, higher ones more to the right ... just like a real piano.

Maybe this thread can be of help?

I haven't had a huge issue in mono. Stereo is better - but I believe there will be lots of variation with different sound reinforcement as well as different approaches to setup on the same equipment.
