I am about to get a FW16E FireWire interface for my XF7.

The way my office is currently set up I would need a ~20ft FireWire cable to connect the XF7 to my PC. Is this cable length feasible?

I found this active extension cable which looks like it could work. But I’m unfamiliar with FireWire, and I’m not sure it will work. Will it?

Yamaha recommends that you use an IEEE1394 cable with a length of 4.5 meters or less.

That's about 15 feet maximum length. An active extension will allow longer lengths, if you have an issue, according to the claims of that link, address them with the device manufacturer. They specifically claim it overcomes the 4.5m maximum of IEEE1394, so if it does what they claim, you're go to go.
