FM Converter is not working

Hi,
I want to convert the original DX7 sounds (at least the first bank).
After I put the .syx files in the "Drag and Drop" box and pressing the Convert button, nothing happens (I don't get the zip file).
I tried with Firefox, G. Chrome and Edge.

Can anybody help me, please?
I would love to have the zip file with the DX7 sounds if someone could give it to me.

This doesn't work for me either. Although I do get a list of patches contained within the SYX file I am trying to convert. Also, if I "toggle selections" to turn off all of the checkboxes then the interface correctly tells me I need at least one patch selected. So that side of the equation is working. Seems like the backend converter piece needs someone to update a path or something.

Here's a picture backing up what I reported earlier. A valid SYX file that can be parsed by the front-end of the FM Converter does not provide any output when I press the "CONVERT" button. I see a flash of a progress bar but it's quick and nothing else.

The information previously provided was enough to reproduce the reported failing behavior. Screenshot shows other details such as the dataset tested (filesize 21404 bytes).

Sorry to hear that it doesn't work. I used it just a few days ago to convert some random banks and it worked OK with most of them.

I've attached a library with all the stock DX7 sounds I converted back when I first got my MODX and if I don't remember incorrectly I included sounds from both the US and EU/JP banks.
Note that they are quite dry and no extra effects or tweaks have been added + the FM converter strips some parameters like pitchbend and aftertouch settings from the exported performances.

Hope this helps!

Attached files

DX7 Rom 1-4.zip (50.3 KB)

[quotePost id=118223]That zip url gives a 404 error.[/quotePost]

This forum still seem to have it's issues which kind of sucks.

This link will only be valid for one week unfortunately: https_//we.tl/t-5IQPKnNfRV (LINK EXPIRED!)

Your welcome christian.

I've reported both the issue with the FM converter not working and also the issue with downloading the attached files to synthesizers@yamaha.com which at least can be used to report forum issues.

I also noticed quite a few errors on the FM converter page when checking the developer console in the browser.

Still no response to any inquiries by email regarding the forum attachments giving a 400 error or the fact that the FM converter is still not working properly.

Just to re confirm the OP, im having the same issue.
Ive followed Woodys guide, and the one above recomending the Eno file, but even with just a single rom, i can see the sys ex file in the window, with the ascociated patches, but when i click on convert, i see a progress bar apear for a few seconds, but nothing else happens.
I dont get a message saying process complete or a zip notification etc.

I tried in windows 10 Edge browser, and then Chrome on my desktop PC, same in both.
I then tired the same on my laptop, nothing doing.
I even tried on my Android tablet, and Apple i pad, but no joy with either of those.

Not sure what else to do?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

This is a backend issue Yamaha needs to fix. There isn’t anything that needs fixing on your side as a user.

Yesterday I reached out to Ben Israel through Ideascale and got a response confirming they are aware of the issue with the FM Converter and are working on sorting it.

No ETA provided so we just have to be patient and wait.

Just checked back on the FM Converter and even though it's online again there is still an issue with it.

This time it breaks already when trying to upload the .syx file.

UPDATE: Issue wasn't the converter but some corrupt cookie or something on my PC. after clearing all settings, the converter started to work as expected.
