Hi everyone,

I've tried updating my reface CS to the latest firmware, however I get the feeling the update fails every single time I try. I've also tried using different computers, so the problem seems to be with the CS. I've connected my reface cs by USB to the computer, downloaded the updater, the program recognizes the cs, I press start, the status bar fills up and when it's full it only tells me I can press start again.
When I try accessing any of the new functions they just won't work. The CS reacts as if no update has been installed. All factory options work perfectly fine, no problem there.

I really hope someone can help me with this!

This you can know for sure. Please take your time and read through the included instructions. They give the method to determine if you need to run the updater. This checks your current version.

Power On while holding the lowest D# on the keyboard.
If the REC light in the LOOPER section illuminates you are updated to 1.30

Dear Bad Mister,

thanks for your reply. Your remark about reading included instructions did the trick. I feel like an idiot, but I completely overlooked the updater manual, I thought it was one of the different language manuals. I followed all instructions and now it's updated perfectly. Thank you so much and sorry for wasting your time!

Hi

I have the same problem: I try to update the firmware (Windows 7), but the updater stops after reaching 100%. Then nothing happens. My Reface CS is still not updated: I've tried to power it on while holding the lowest D# on the keyboard, but REC light in the LOOPER section doesn't illuminate.

Is there any solution?

If indeed it is the same problem and the previous poster has solved the issue, the answer for you is to do the same thing.

Lets find out what you've done. Okay, if you hold the lowest D# (D#2) down while powering up and the REC light does not illuminate, you have old firmware.
What do you do next? Power down... Ensure you have a working connection via USB MIDI to your computer.

You have to hold down the secret keys and power on the reface CS while holding them down... this places the unit in the UPDATER mode... (MultiSaw light comes on)
Start the Updater application.

Only when all the OSC lights light up _ your update is finished.

"The update will take approximately five minutes. Please ensure that your computer does not enter Sleep mode during this time."

Let us know.

Dear BadMister

Thank your for the help. I managed to update the firmware but have another problem: this time with Reface CP:

1. I've updated firmware to 1.3 and set the Receive MIDI Channel to 3
2. I use Deluge as a sequencer with MIDI Thru 4 Splitter from Miditech
3. Unfortunatelly Reface CP doesn't receive any data from the Splitter (or receives some random notes from time to time). It works well only when connected directly to the Deluge (without MIDI Splitter)
4. My Reface CS works fine and receives data from the MIDI Splitter without a problem. Reface DX also works well.

I've tried different cables, outputs, channels etc.

Maybe Reface CP needs an active MIDI Splitter with it''s own power suply?

Any suggestions?

Regards,
Chris

The reface just needs reliable MIDI. Your question is for the makers of the “MIDI Splitter”, no?
How are you connected 5-pin MIDI cables or USB (you never say) check your connection, make sure your reface CP is set properly fit MIDI. or USB.

Hi

Yep I've checked everything and set up MIDI channel properly on my Reface CP. It seems that CP needs an active MIDI Splitter. It's quite strange because Reface CS and Reface DX work well with my passive MIDI Splitter.

I'm going to buy an active MIDI Splitter and we will see...

Regards,
Chris

Hi, I have also just tried several times to update my Reface CS to 1.3 following the instructions exactly, with no results. It simply will not update. Any suggestions? I am using USB and a Mac Book Air running 10.14.3. The test does not show any looper lights. I enter update mode successfully with the OSC Saw light on. The USB/MIDI connection is fine, but it simply doesn't load the update file. I have tried sending midi successfully from my laptop from Ableton Live. What can I do?
