Hello,

When trying to load firmware 1.6 I get an error message 'ng' and am prompted to try again. This flash drive has been formatted and I am following loading instruction.

Any help?

Thank you

The downloaded file, must be unzipped and the 8N70OS_.PGM file placed in the root directory of the USB stick..

Best way to troubleshoot this is to recount exactly what you are doing. Assume that there is a step you are missing (thousands of folks have updated successfully)...we need to find what’s not working for you.

NG means the MONTAGE cannot find or read the file

Hello Jason - it is VITAL that the formatted USB stick has NOTHING on it but the updater file - the 8N700S_PGM referred to by BM. I keep a small 2GB stick that only ever does updates, which I format every time a new update arrives and then extract the new update file to it. So far it has never failed ...

Hello And Thanks for your reply.I understand now that I need to remove the PGM from the folder and this worked up to a point. When I turned on the Montage to begin the update. my display read 'Searching for Update...OK then went on to Preparing... at this point I then again get the message NG.

I have followed a number of different you tube tutorials and as far as I can see I am doing this correctly ( it's not too complicated) As advised the flash drive has only the PGM file on it.

Advice?

Thank you

Hello Jason - it might be that your USB is one of those that has a pre-programmed index or folder system on it - Intuit, I think - and that will screw up the Montage as well. I had that problem when I tried to update the first time - everything as required except for the tiny pre-prograrmmed bit. So I tried a normal USB stick with no pre-programmed stuff, and it worked fine.

That is correct... usb sticks with copy protection will not be able to be used by your keyboard. Are you able to SAVE a file to that USB stick from the MONTAGE? Try to write a FILE from the MONTAGE to that drive... Let us know.

If you can’t, if there is copy protection software burned to the drive, contact the manufacturer of the drive for their “removal tool”; (formatting does not remove the copy protection software, wouldn’t be much protection if simple formatting got rid of it).
