Hi, I just bought an MX88, and I'm using the Rhythm patterns. Is there a way to have a more musical-sounding ending to a rhythm pattern? When I hit the stop button, it simply stops the beat where it is. and I'd prefer something like a drum ending pattern (maybe a crash, or filling out the remaining beats in the measure). I can't seem to find a mention of this anywhere in the manuals.

No. The Rhythm Pattern function in the MX allows one Drum pattern to play along with your Performance. it is a simple time keeper, like a ‘hip’ metronome.

If you want to build your own Drum and percussion accompaniment, you’ll want to install and look into using your FREE copy of Cubase AI which includes the VST Plugin called “Groove Agent SE” — an introductory version of Steinberg’s premiere Drum Track construction tool. Ultimate cool tool for drum creation!

Worth the effort. But this solution does require a computer.

Alternative solutions:
__App - like “Yamaha Synth Book” offers a way to add custom Drum loops (audio clips) - the App connects directly to the MX via a Lightning to USB Camera Adapter and a A-B USB cable. Sound will share the MX Main L/R Outputs. Runs on iPad / iPhone device.

__Move up to the MOXF which adds the ability to use six Arp Phrases per Performance, even allows you to create your own Drum Arps (Includes Main sections, Fill-Ins, Endings, Breaks, etc.), you can dynamically change musical Sections by pressing a ARP SELECT button, which implements the selection at the top of the next beat.

Hi Bad Mister,

Thanks for the info. I'm using Cubase but I haven't really looked at Groove Agent, I'll check it out (as well as that app).

Perhaps I'll update to the MOXF in the future, it sounds cool.

Thanks,
