I have a performance that uses "74 Phase" electric pno on part 1 and "90s harp" on part 2. Tweaked to taste and sounds fine. Now, I want to change "74 Phase" to "Clicky Dyno" but when I do it sounds different because the effects aren't applied the same. Do I HAVE to rebuild the performance again to get "Clicky" insert FX to be applied properly? I'm thinking this should be really easy...what am I missing? Seems there's a box I can check somewhere that tells Montage to bring insert FX when building multi part performances.

Thanks!

When you start a performance based off of another - the system effects will be set according to the "base" performance. I'm not aware of a feature to override the system effects of the current performance with another when adding PARTs. The closest thing is the "param with part" for mixer - but this isn't going to really do it.

You can either start with "Clicky Dyno MW" - then add "90s harp" so system effects are based off of "Clicky Dyno MW" - or you can use what you have and edit the system effects to match Clicky Dyno. EQ settings aside (I didn't go in and inspect all of them) - The 74 Phase and Clicky Dyno PARTs are very similar in the system effects chain. You need only edit the variation section since the rest looks "close enough for jazz".

I took a grainy low-res cell-phone picture of the variation screen so I could reference it. Under system effects (starting with the 74 Phase settings) I changed the variation type to "Ensemble Detune" (under chorus category) from the Phase effect that was there. Then I changed "Var To Rev" from whatever it was under 74 Phase (15?) to the setting matching "Clicky Dyno MW" which was 15. Although perhaps not 100% spot-on (you can dig deeper) - it was good enough for me just to change these two things and call it quits.

Got it. Ok, I can live with that.

Maybe for future there can be a "copy performance system effects" job to help us out? 🙂

The functionality is almost there.

Here's a thought experiment:

1) Create a performance with "74 Phase" as PART 1 and "90s Harp" as PART 2 - Call this performance "EP Harp" just for reference in the story below
2) Tweak lots of parameters so that PART 2 is now heavily modified and you do not want to lose this work
3) Oops - I want "Clicky Dyno MW" as PART 1 instead of "74 Phase" and also do not want to setup the effects to match -- OK, do the following:
4) Create a new performance with "Clicky Dyno MW" as PART 1 (simply by recalling the preset) - now the effects are all OK
5) performance merge "EP Harp" and "Clicky Dyno MW" - do this by starting with "Clicky Dyno MW" and then press [SHIFT] + [CATEGORY SEARCH] to bring up the performance merge screen and navigate to "EP Harp". After the merge, delete the "74 Phase" PART because you do not need that anymore.
