I currently own a tyros 5, there are special effect that I really like on the tyros but it lacks a lot of versatility vs the montage. I'm looking to replace tyros for montage but I'm wondering if the montage will still have some of the effects that the tyros has such as the "harmonic exciter" and "stereo amp sim"? Does the montage have low & high pass filters, and shelves on their eq engine, because tyros did not. The tyros did have a negative ratio compressor which I found very useful. Does the montage also has a negative ratio compressor?

DSP development at Yamaha is a huge part of the technology scene. From the high end digital consoles and live sound mixers, through the synthesizer and home keyboards, right down to entry level products, the benefit of Yamaha's R&D in this era can be heard.

You can download the Montage DATA LIST Booklet and see the details of the Effects and their programmable parameters. While initially it may seem there are more in Tyros until you realize those are simply reconfigurations of the same algorithm. The effect type is Montage are not only fully programmable but realtime controllable and can be automated within the Montage Motion engine.

The synthesizers (Montage) are designed to optimize user configuration of settings... this is also the approach with the Effect editing (versus Tyros).
