I'm trying to mimic the studio sounds Rey Manzarek used for Doors recordings. I'd love people's input about what mix of performance sounds and effects to use or even what instruments he used during the original recording.

For example, in Hello, I Love You, I think Rey used a Gibson G101 with some kind of percussion setting on it. Does anyone know of any good G101 samples anywhere? I don't think the MODX has one. How could I mimic the buzzy zzz sound? A harpsichord with distortion?

Riders on the Storm is a Rhodes, obviously, but I think I hear tremolo and maybe a phaser in the original recording?

Not to Touch the Earth: no idea what organ he used, nor how they got the weird psychedelic floaty, bendy sound. My hypothesis is that it is a Gibson G101 and they used the bend switch on the proprietary volume pedal those organs had. How could I mimic it?

For Love Her Madly, Moonlight Drive, etc., Ray was playing a tack piano, which the MODX does not have a good version of. I have a Nord Electro 6D and it has a near perfect tack piano (labeled as a honkey tonk piano) for these Doors songs. It sounds just like it. But, I have to control it with MIDI to use the weighed keys of the MODX.

Yamaha has always had great default Vox Continental organ sounds for the Doors' early recordings, it's one thing that has kept me a Yamaha customer. My S80 had a perfect Vox and so does the MODX.

Are there any performances anyone has made that anyone knows of that would help me with any of these songs?
