Direct Monitor Control Grayed Out?

I just noticed that in Audio Settings, the Direct Monitor control is grayed out. I can tell from the white lines in the display that the Montage is set to do direct monitoring.

Why is that control grayed out? How can I get back control of it?

I just figured it out. The control is grayed out when there is no computer hooked up to the Montage (or the computer is turned off) , which figures because in that case where else could the sound go?

When you turn on the MONTAGE and you are not connected to an active computer, you will notice that the AUDIO ROUTING and DIRECT MONITOR functions (and all those that deal with computer connectivity) are greyed out.

Notice the "Audio Signal Flow" diagram - the USB connectors and their path are greyed out as well. Where the Direct Monitor would be in the lower right corner just a grey panel appears. Connecting the MONTAGE to a computer via USB will update the Signal Flow diagram... as will making assignments.

Thanks, Bad Mister. That all makes perfect sense.

As you can see, I tried twice to upload a Montage screenshot. Both attempts failed. I was using an iPad and attempting to upload the screenshot PNG from my iCloud Drive.

Is there some trick I didn’t figure out? Is the upload feature currently broken?

I upload to imgbb then use the open-bracket "img" close-bracket "bbcode". This creates an inline image.

I tried it twice but only got the link in the message. The link works, but it’s not inline. What am I missing?

The msg board is expecting a raw image - so click on your link first and notice it's a page -- not an image. Then right click on the image itself and pick "copy image location" (assuming Chrome). This is a different link. Then surround this link with the bracket - img, and bracket - slash - img.
