Hello Yamaha,

last Saturday I could test my new CP88 live on stage for the first time.
I always found that the true value of the sounds of a stage piano is only revealed when playing live on stage.

What can I say? I am absolutely thrilled...

All the piano and electric piano sounds are fantastic for live playing and come through perfectly. The sound of the CP88 is full, present and very three-dimensional. I have tested almost all of the CP88 pianos on the gig and I am very very happy.

I have had a CP5, then a CP4, a Korg SV1, a MotifXF8 and now a Motif XF6 (which I am also very very happy with) in the last few years after I gave away my old CP300.

With the SCM sound generation I had my problems... Especially when playing with the band.

I really think that Yamaha's decision to re-equip their stagepianos series with the AWM2 sound generation was definitely the right one.
So... thanks to YAMAHA! You guys really make my day.

The only piano sound I still use from time to time is the S6 Grand from the XF. I still miss that one in the CP88 collection.... 😉

The user interface of the CP88 is awesome, the work flow with the control panel works great and especially the wooden keyboard makes it the perfect instrument for me.

What are your experiences with the CP88 in live play? What are your favorite piano sounds for the band context?

Other experiences?

Thanks for your answers,

Oliver
