Hello, all:
I'm looking at both the MX88 and CK88, and I can't decide which to purchase. The CK seems like it has many more options for sound sculpting on the fly, and I love the idea of internal speakers (what a hoot!), but something about the sound of the MX (especially the AP) sounds much more musical and makes me excited to play it. However, this opinion is based only on watching YouTube videos of both models. Any thoughts from anyone here who has played both the MX and the CK? Thank you!

Before you get a lot of opinions (which is the best you can hope for) you are basically asking a “Will-these-shoes-fit-my-feet?” question.
A question no one but you can answer.
You have a handle on the differences. They are clearly in two different categories: synth vs stage keyboard — which feels right for you is a matter for you to decide.
If at all possible, get to an authorized Yamaha Synth dealer and sit down with them. Music stores typically take out one of each and have them setup for you play (for just this reason - to help you decide). Discuss with them the types of things you want to do (play gigs, record with computer, etc., etc.).
The one sure thing that music retailers have going for them is the experience of dealing with many (many) others, who just like you, were attempting to make up their mind on the very same things. And probably have a good deal of happy and unhappy stories as well.
