For various reasons, I copy and re-name all single-part Performances to a User file - it facilitates my own voice-mixing, but this would not be necessary if Yamaha grouped all single-part Performances (green) together, and all multi-parts (blue) ditto. They are currently scattered randomly all over - is there a chance that this can be done in a future up-date? Or that 'Preset' could be split into 'single-part' and 'multi-part'? That's question 1.

Question 2 concerns 'single-part' Performances that in fact contain other parts under pre-assigned controllers. I remember that someone said they got round that by breaking the links between the part and the controllers - how do you do that, please? I've had no luck so far!

Thanks ...

Cannot help you on either question - but can concur that being able to sort or group by various metrics (such as part count) would be great. I would suspect that this is going to ultimately be solved offline with some form of performance manager - although it would be useful to have a tool to filter by more varied parameters than currently available on-board.

This is one of the areas where the Soundmondo/Montage will be great as users construct single part performances for any presets (current, or past motif) that do not currently have one. I'm sure the web can search by part count - and something to consider for that interface as well.

For the first question I'm not sure what the issue is. It sounds like you want to be able to see your user performances that only use single parts. This is already possible - you select User from the drop down Bank list and Single from the drop down Attribute list and then only your own single part performances are listed. You can also choose whether these are shown in default order or in ascending/descending alphabetical order or by the date you created them - either most to least recent or vice versa. The same is also true for preset performances - you can use the attribute filter to only show single part performances.

There is no one single answer to the second question as it will vary between performances however there are generally 2 ways that the elements of a single part performance can be controlled.

Firstly there could be XA control of the element. In Edit Part Osc/Tune see if XA control is set to something other than Normal (for instance it could be A. SW 1 On - in which case that particular element will only sound when the Assign Switch 1 is pressed).

There could also be a controller assigned to affect the element. Go to Mod/Control, Control Assign and set the filter to All - then see if any of the destinations mention Element. To "break" that link simply delete it with the Delete function in the bottom right hand corner.

Hello Phil - of course! I had forgotten the 'Attribute' button, which works fine on Presets or User. Just as well you reminded me - there are 106 Single Part Perfs in the 'Pad/Choir' Bank! Saved me a lot of pointless work - but I still think Yamaha should separate them at source, rather than jumble them all up. The 'breaking' of links I see is more involved than I thought, thank you. A lot of the time the linking doesn't matter, but when I get to a point where it does matter I'll put your suggestions to the test! Back to the drawing board ...
