I am in the process of adding a balanced patchbay to my setup. Should I run balanced or unbalanced cables from MODx? Some patches to some effects pedals will be routed to balanced equipment.
So for example if I run unbalanced TS from MODx to the patchbay and have effects pedal (x) to the patch bay that is balanced, when I patch from MODx to effects pedal would there be an issue?

The MODX is unbalanced output, using a balanced cable will not change this… there is no real inherent problem using either type of cable. As always keep your unbalanced cable runs short (under 20 feet).
If you’re asking will you get noise/hum? …who can say… when you have multiple ground pathways between gear you have to take into account all the gear connected. If necessary, you can get a stereo DI Box to balance your output.
