Arpeggiator weirdness (loop??)

Hi, i'm having some weird side-effects right now trying to sync the arpeggio on the moxf with my DAW (Sonar X3).

If i for example call up the performance "Pump station MW" and mute tone 1-3 (only keeping #4 - patch "Trilogy AF1&2") while having midi-clock set to "external", then the arp is in perfect sync with the incoming clock and continues to play during a chord. No probem there.

But if i call up the patch itself (the Trilogy one) - Pre9/094 and press a chord, the arp only goes for 1-2 seconds and then dies. What can cause this? I don't think i have any midi-loops or something similar (have local off and use usb for midi).

Any ideas?

I have browsing all menus in search for the culprit, have tried to changes send/receive channel, etc. Problem remains?

We are just as sure you do. Here's why, when properly setup to record an Arpeggio, Local Control should be ON, (not OFF). Your key presses should travel first to the arpeggiator, and then the notes generated by the arpeggiator travel OUT via MIDI to be recorded.

In your DAW you want those note-ons to "dead end" in the DAW, you do not want to echo them back again to the synth. Therefore during Record do not set the track to output MIDI data. It will return to the MOXF and trigger the arpeggio again... That's your loop. The way you are set is the definition of a loop.

In the Performance you can set the Arp Part's OUTPUT SWITCH and you can select a specific MIDI channel to transmit this data on. This is necessary to separate your "trigger note" from your "arpeggio generated notes".

😀

Feeling quite dumb now, but that explanation was actually spot on. I tried what you wrote and it works perfectly now. I think i also get the difference of the arps in performance mode (vs the voice mode with the (previous) midi-loop).

Thx heaps B.M 🙂
