Dear @Jason,

I would like to thank you for your seemingly tireless support of users in this forum. We would be at a loss without it.

Considering your extraordinary deep knowledge of the Montage, MODX and predecessors, it is understandable why users believe you are a payrolled Yamaha Support Officer. To this extent, you receive some totally undeserved flak. I have always known you are just another user, like us, which makes your altruistic dedication to assist all the more valuable.

I feel I need to write this expression of gratitude, because sometimes it may appear I am against or contradicting the solutions you offer. This is not my intent. Generally, I try to present alternative, simpler solutions that necessarily push-back some of the burden onto the user.

To be frank, I find some Users can be quite stubborn, demanding and unwilling to expend any energy in helping to remove their own obstacles.

By contrast, you will always try to build a successful solution around the customer, no matter how "unreasonable" their standpoint may seem to me. I have to applaud you for that. It gives me pause, and makes me realise that sometimes I am the party that is being unreasonable.

All said, your efforts have always been very much appreciated by me, and will continue to be appreciated.

Thank you,

Antony

Antony, thanks for your kind words.

I feel that demonstrating kindness, calm, and resolve in the face of the opposite is the best way to deal with a tough crowd. I may not get anywhere with that - but at least I'm not adding any gasoline to the fire.

I hold fellow keyboard players to a different standard than the official support. Having been involved with numerous bands, projects, recordings, and other musical endeavors - I've had lots of exposure to passion, and all of its manifestations (good and bad), from fellow musicians. Therefore, I understand what this is and do not really fault anyone for handling things in a more negative way than maybe I would.

Yamaha support is a different story. I do hold them to a higher standard and thankfully, on balance, the experience has been mostly positive.

Thanks again and looking forward to a future of having fun with this musical technology.

I would also like to express my gratitude to Jason for the sterling work he has done for us on this forum. Yamaha really ought to be rewarding him... perhaps a CS80 or GX1 might be donated to him.
