I saw the teaser and a picture of the new Genos.

Knobs with graphic displays
9 sliders independent of the volume knob.
3 buttons (articulations) and may be new articulation system.

This is also likely that Yamaha embedded the reface series in Genos.

Also the little displays above the knobs and the sliders and the buttons does it mean Genos can be used as a fully fledged control surface?

An official Yamaha release "teaser" - or just something some random individual dreamed up as their concept of what "Genos" should be?

I've seen unofficial wish-videos but nothing direct from Yamaha.

Since the picture I saw is not the official picture I'm not sure it's correct to put it here. Here is a link to Paul Drongowski's website:Title

He also confirms the rumor. It has not so many buttons! So I assume majority of it's capabilities are accessible from the the touch screen.

The question is if Genos will be the Motif+Tyros hybrid keyboard (it looks like) to fill the gap?

The official video is something I had not seen before. 6 knobs, 9 sliders (unknown if one is master volume - would be nice for 9 "soft" sliders).

Video also shows the count of all rear ports - so one could start making guesses from that.

Thanks for passing on the information/links.

Stay tuned:

The image from the unofficial source does match up with the video at least. So appears there is a master volume dial and 9 true "soft" (parameter affecting) sliders which would be useful for organ -- if true. Appears fairly rooted in the Tyros lineage.

2nd video shows quick interaction with similar touchscreen as Montage (similar hardware - not screen content). Shows LED screen above knobs with "Reverb", "Chorus" and the decimal value of each setting. Montage has a "ring" of LEDs around the Knob to show the "value" -- the number is more absolute and actually seems to jive more with a synth that you program (apposed to an arranger that you don't program as deeply). Maybe this was a late bloomer of an idea or just too costly (for Montage). The name (like "reverb", "chorus", etc) saves from having to look at a decoder ring like on Montage (fixed functions of Knobs 1-8 in Montage. Such as "ARP/MS", etc). We see a slider and the shape of that hard plastic looking scoop deal. Looks like the back of Montage in a way - miniaturized. Since the back of Genos is not scooped - the energy of the audience can be harnessed by the sliders. It's clear that the last slider is labeled "9" - so that's a welcome feature.

Mostly you get to see NYC. A few subliminal flashes of close-up parts of Genos here and there. Then there's a recording session that I assume is meant to suggest that Genos sounds as real as a hired orchestra -- but not really sure what's live and what's Memorex here (I imagine that's part of the point) -- assuming for now it's all Genos except for vocals.

The vocals are Genos too, and it generated the video as well with just a couple of menu choices (NYC, which singer).

Life is good in the 21st Century!

Here's a video about Genos that I just found, and a screen capture. This picture of the Genos is the main point of the video, but there's around 4.5 minutes of teaser leading up to it.

I really like the styling of my Montage, and it's interesting to see that they styled the Genos in the same way. The two of them will look very good together in my office.

No and no.

That photo is unofficial, incorrect, fake, etc.

Look at the official sources and compare - totally different machine.

The front of the thing looks more like this:

This video is probably the best unofficial summary of at least having representative pictures.

Wow. If you're right, someone went to a lot of trouble making a fake video. I guess we'll know soon…

I wonder what Yamaha instruments means with digital workstation they really put the emphasis on that,
Which makes me think its not a workstation in the sense people know it is?.

From the two leaked photos that are doing the rounds it would appear to have a plastic casing NOT metal .....but I guess we should not judge a book by its cover just yet and the devil is in the deital....will the media campaign be bigger than the event???? Time will tell...and still very happy and in love with my Montage....(don't tell the girl friend)

Does it have a joystick on the left side, like Roland synths?

although Genos is advertised as a "digital workstation", I believe it's a replacement for the Tyros arranger keyboard. I doubt its a workstation in the Motif sense. But the rumoured specs look interesting. No point speculating. Just got to be patient. All will be revealed in good time.

But what if this is a sort of a new hybrid workstation "arranger" + "Motif workstation"??? hmm....

According to rumors, it has the upgraded MOTIF XF's sequencer. Although I prefer direct integration with Cubase sequencer as the "native sequencer" (which I haven't seen in none of Yamaha's products). The sequencer is also capable of mixing audio and midi. In addition to these, I read somewhere that it will have new AWM2 capabilities (has 3 AF buttons).

Wish Badmister could give us some idea what surprise Yamaha has prepared for us.

I wonder whether Yamaha will ever make a workstation again. Or those hardware sequencers which they used to make. The recently launched Akai MPC X or LIve seems to indicate that people prefer hardware sequencers (even though DAW is much cheaper and more features). A hardware Cubase ..ha ha...ha...Might be too expensive to have a keyboard with DAW capabilities. Not sure whether we need one. Looking forward to see what Genos has to offer.
