The layout of the QY70 has been specifically designed for fast and intuitive operation. With both dedicated and multi-function control buttons, clear indicators and cursor keys, you’ll find it quick and easy to navigate your way around the QY70’s many graphical screens, displayed on a large 128 x 64 dot LCD.
Rear and side panels feature master volume and LCD contrast controls, MIDI IN/OUT terminals, and a stereo mini-jack for connecting headphones or an externally amplified monitor system. The TO HOST connector and HOST SELECT switch allow the convenience of direct connection to a computer without the need for a separate interface. |

XG Voices and Multi-effects |

As an XG format MIDI device, the QY70 features powerful expanded voice and multi-effects capabilities. There are 519 voices and 20 drum kits available to provide you with virtually every type of musical instrument voice you could ever want, all generated by Yamaha’s high-quality AWM2 tone generation process. You can edit various characteristics of the voices—such as cutoff frequency (brightness), resonance (harmonic content), attack time and more—using the panel controls, to create your own customized sound.
The three digital multi-effects processors let you polish your mix with reverb, delay, chorus and many other effects. In all, there are 11 Reverb, 11 Chorus, and 43 “Variation” type effects which include various reverb, delay, modulation, distortion, EQ and other effects, all of which can be edited to suit your song. |

Built-in Music Database and Phrase-based Composing |

The QY70 has a powerful 20-song (approx. 32,000 notes), high-resolution (480-clocks per quarter note) sequencer with 8 tracks for phrase-based Style construction and 16 linear tracks designed to let you sketch out a song quickly and easily. Full editing features, including extensive song, measure, track and event editing functions, let you edit your arrangement to your heart’s content until it’s just the way you want it.
A built-in music database of 4167 preset phrases include professionally programmed musical performances. These include drum and percussion loops, bass lines, guitar, keyboard and a whole range of other instrument riffs and chords, representing virtually every type of music. Each Style includes special matching Sections, or various Intro, Fill-in and Ending variations which can be easily added to create a variety of smooth and natural transitions throughout the song. |

There are 128 preset Styles (each with 6 Sections) ready for use at any time, as well as 64 user Styles (each with 6 user-programmed Sections) that you can create yourself.
The advanced ABC (Auto Bass Chord) accompaniment system automatically reharmonizes the patterns according to the chord type you choose. Moreover, “Preset Chord Templates” are available to let you apply standard chord progressions from a range of musical genres, including Pops, Ballard, Blues, and more.
Versatile to the core, the QY70 permits Real Time, Step and Multi (multiple track) recording, plus nondestructive “Groove Templates” which let you apply a more human feel to the playback through preprogrammed timing parameters. These include special quantize, clock shift, swing and velocity values, to completely change the groove, but without altering the original data. |

Data Filer Utility Software for PC/Mac |

QY Data Filer software is available to let you save QY70 data to a computer for storage on a floppy disk, as well as transmit saved data from a computer back to the QY70.
It also provides maximum data compatibility by letting you load SMF data files from a computer to the QY70 for playback and editing, or transmit song files created on the QY70 to a computer as SMF song files. In addition, the software lets you use a computer to clear data files in the QY70. |
