Yamaha defined a new category of portable synth in the 'Walkstation' series. The QY10, smaller than the size of a video cassette, allowed on-the-road use of MIDI for the first time. As technology progressed so did the power of the QY series, through the QY20 and QY22 right up to the current QY70.
