Picture this: Musicians will now have the ability to create any type of instrument, even ones that exist only in their imagination. Shudder at the possibilities? A key strength of VL virtual acoustic tone generation is its ability to produce extremely realistic simulations of acoustic instruments, such as woodwinds and brass. Although significant, the great appeal of VL lies in fact that it gives musicians the freedom to design 'hybrid' instruments such as powerful new analogue style instrument sounds that do not exist in reality. To date, synthesizer voices have been provided from the manufacturer with the voices being preset or available in options. The Yamaha Visual Acoustic Editor changes this. The Visual Editor allows even a novice programmer to really attack the heart of their physical modeling synthesizer. It is an easy-to-use application with a graphical interface which allows you to make selections using easily understandable palettes and clickable buttons.

Incorporating drag and drop visual icons that represent the main components of SVA synthesis, this free application allows simple creation of new and dynamic instruments at the click of a mouse. The new Mac version now supports the EX5 Vl part voicing.

For millions of years mankind has wanted (well I have anyway) an expert editor for the Windows platform that allows the level of control Mac users have been used to over the power of VL physical modeling. Now with the soon to be released Sondius XG, and the PLG100VL daughterboard for the MU100r (and other devices!), the need has grown even stronger.

Well folks, the amazing Wind List guys have come up with the goodies, and you can find them all on Art's Wind Synth Page.
Wind Synthesizers, Wind Controllers, WX5, WX11, WX7, VL1m, VL70m and related wind synth topics are covered on this web site. Here you will find links to other wind synth sites, as well as information on a listserv dedicated to discussion of wind synthesis, wind controllers, and related subjects. Learn the basics of wind synths, or check out advanced topics area for subjects like the use of force sensing resistors to add new controllers to wind synths. This area is also where you'll find the Expert Editor software.

The Expert Editor (as of 23/02/98) can be downloaded below, as well as a number of help and support files:
