How to check the version of your MOTIF XS
1. Push [UTILITY] to enter Utility mode.
2. Push [UTILITY], [↑(Cursor Up)] and [F1] buttons simultaneously.

Read your version to two decimal places of the first dot. I.e., you can ignore the numbers after the second dot.

Caution
- This updater is only for the MOTIF XS synthesizer.
- This updater is to be used at the user's own risk.
- One over 128MB USB memory device formatted on the MOTIF XS
- The unit may become inoperable if the electrical supply is interrupted while running the updater (by pulling out the AC cord, etc.). In such a case, reapply the updater from the first step.
- If the unit does not function after using the update, please contact your nearest Yamaha service center.

The IEEE1394 Firmware Updater lets you update the firmware of the IEEE1394 interface included on the following devices.
Devices to be updated
- mLAN16E2
- MOTIF XS8
- n12/n8

Updated Contents
[1.03 to 1.05]
- Fixed a problem that the computer occasionally cannot recognize the n8/n12.
- Fixed a problem that the n8/n12 and MOTIF XS series might not be able to receive the mLAN audio from two or more mLAN devices at the same time.

[1.02 to 1.03]
- Fixed a problem that the n8/n12 occasionally produces noise from the audio output jacks when changing the sampling frequency.

[1.01 to 1.02]
- Fixed a problem that a Macintosh computer using Intel processors occasionally cannot recognize the connected devices.

The mLAN Tools/mLAN Driver is for network connection. When You connect one MOTIF XS8 (or mLAN16E2) to a computer, it is not necessary to use mLAN Driver. In this case we recommend to use AI Driver.
